Okay so I just lifted my truck. Being the mechanical hypochondriac that I am I checked up on a few things. My tie rods are now going up at an angle like this /\ 6A5FBBD1-E2B4-4219-9406-B3E6E47C049C.jpgI have another truck sitting in my driveway (tundra) and this is what the tundra’s rods look like

If you can’t tell the difference - Tundra sits like this - while my tacoma sits like this \ is that going to turn into an issue a few months down the road due to added stress and the angle of the rod?
I guess what I’m really asking is... should I take the lift off my truck?

I doubt it will cause an immediate problem but could potentially cause premature wear of your tie rods due to the lift. Since you asked, I would remove the lift since it is just 2wd. In the long run it will cause more wear on your suspension components.

looks normal to me, you lifted the truck so the angles are going to be different on certain components. Like when you put a suspension lift on a 4wd it changes the angles of the CV shafts. The inner tie rod pivots up/down/left/right so it's just pivoting downward more now, since the truck was lifted.

Premature wear might be an issue but that's usually par for the course when a vehicle gets lifted and the geometry of certain components changes. Might be worth getting an alignment just to be sure it's not out of whack after the lift.

OP this is what an inner tie rod looks like (you can't see it because it's inside the boot attached to the steering rack), your outer tie rod that you're seeing is threaded into one end of the inner tie rod.

They are design to pivot around, so the angle looks steeper but nothing is bent.

If you bent a tie rod you would definitely know it, the vehicle wouldn't drive straight at all

How much of a lift did you do OP? I was thinking about just doing a 2” level spacer in the front but I am also concerned about longevity

Based off my research the highest you want to go with spacers is 2.5”

mines is 2.75”. Only time will tell. So far so good, truck runs like factory. And honestly I think it might even run better (could be Bc of an oil change and new air filter lol)

but yeah it’s a 2.75”. Basically made it look a little more like a stock tacoma but if you’re really concerned about it, do the black box mod and put 235/75R15 on and that’ll “lift” it just a tad (maybe an inch)
