As long as you change the dome n map lamps to led so you don't exceed the circuit amps when adding the puddles, rock or running board lamps ( LED's)

From his video... Inside the driver's side A pillar you'll find a white connector. Blue wire is positive, yellow wire is negative. No special modules needed, just tap into the factory wiring

Thanks porroquio, you had a great idea! Last week my daughter and I both exited my new (to me) truck in the dark for the first time. We both tripped over my N-fab steps and fell out of the truck

I'd consider getting rid of the steps, except my mother-in-law wouldn't be able to get in without them.

So I just used porroquio's method to light them up instead.

If one were to wire it this way, with a micro relay coil grounded off of the purple wire, would it still work if the Bed light switch was set to off?

Yes, it would provide a ground to the added micro relay to activate it when UNLOCK, and DOOR open.

Looking at the other thread, if I wanted the puddle lights to turn on and off with the bed light, or be able to turn them on whenever via a switch, I am thinking this would work? Also, they fade in and out this way too, correct? (Assuming I don't have the switch closed) Sorry it isn't much to look at. Green would be a 20 gauge, red being a 16 or 14 depending on load. Fused to load as well.

No Fade, just ON or OFF. The fade effect is if the lights were attached to the overhead illumination (blue & yellow wires on connector IN1) and do not exceed the amps to that circuit.

Thanks for the help. I was trying to get away with just using a SPST switch that would turn the lights on anytime, but when the switch is off, the lights would just act like the bed light. I would like to have them fade in and out if possible, but I'm not sure about draw. I guess I will throw a meter on the circuit and see what the actual draw is and how many amps I can add. You guys are a great resource, and I appreciate the answers.

TRD emblems, tinted windows, OEM running boards, AVS vent shades, RMAS upgrade, LED lights in front and rear, interior LED lighting upgrade, LED lighting in bed, touch control dash mount for LED lighting, auxillary 12v and USB jacks in bed, replace all speakers with Infinity, custom mod with Bose tweeters, TRD Pro illumination mod...
The only way to get the fade effect like the overhead dome light is to implement a fader in the circuit.

11 and 19. Blue is positive and yellow is ground. This is the connector in the driver side pillar.
