There appears to be two hooks on that apparatus.

At the Toyota factory they lower that part into place carefully, so it is not damaged, and arrives at it’s mating surface in correct alignment. It is a critical and expensive life-safety device intended to last the life of the vehicle after all. Here we are on the TW forums talking trash about it.

I guarantee at the Fiat Jeep factory they just fuckin’ hand-bomb that bitch-ass master cylinder under the hood, ugga-dugga some grade 3 bolts to “goodenteight” and hope for the best. “Can’t see the wreckage from my house”.

Let us not question the Toyota gods. The judgement is rarely in our favour.

Why does it feel like 2020 builds are going to have alot of things like this. They probably had an extra piece and just bolted it on somewhere hoping no one would notice.

Well I just noticed my 16 OR has these hooks and it's a 11/15 build date so these have been around for a while. Someone has to install hunderds of these during their shift so yes I can see how a lifting aid is necessary.

Are Toyota assembly plants unionized? Few posts in this thread suggest so and it's the first I've heard of it.

Also, I'm an assembler for a big company and its OSHA that dictates the weight limits.....usually anything over 40lbs should have a lift device

Toyota has no production plants in N America that are unionized
