Unfortunately someone backed up into my taco but the person that did didn’t have a license and seemed like a good person and I told him not to worry about the incident and told him he could go on. I don’t want to involve the insurance and I was wondering if you guys knew how much this oem part would cost me. It is the left side rear bumper. Thank you!

You do you... but there is a reason people are licensed to drive. The next incident could be life or death. You didn't do anyone any favors.

Hot water and a plunger LOL!

I’d check local scrap yard or look into Steel. I have $$ set aside for if front or rear gets bumped for my excuse to go steel lol!

People will lie just to get away with anything. I would have called the cops. Or at least asked for your deductible. That’s just me.

What @Grossomotto said is probably your most economical bet. Pour hot water in it first. My neighbor hit mine, can't remember what it cost his insurance but I remember it wasn't cheap. OP you are a nicer guy than most, I hope the guy that ran into you counts his lucky stars and gets his affairs in order, or lets someone else drive.

Nice of you to let that guy go, so he can do it to someone else.

That's why there's so many lawbreakers. No accountability.

The blind spot monitoring stuff is right there as well. You may want to make sure nothing under there is damaged. I was bumped in a simple traffic stop and had it handled through insurance, but it was low enough of a repair cost that the driver who bumped me did not get surcharged. In my case one of the sensors was actually damaged underneath although it looked fine and operated without issue.

I was going to do that but some of the paint came off. Don’t really want to deal with getting it repainted and none of that stuff. Seems like an easy fix after all thank you!

I was also rear ended, topic is somewhere on here. I agreed not to call the police, but did exchange information and took pictures of both vehicles. I ended up going through insurance, and made the body shop replace everything with OEM parts (<1,000 miles on truck).
Piggybacking off @MikeyMcFly, not including damage/parts/labor- BSM & Rear Cross Traffic Alert alone required Pre/Post scan & Calibration. Total through the shop on just these scans/diagnostics exceeded $900. All the fancy tech comes at a premium!
Also, looks like the impact was low, but make sure the taillight doesn't have any impact. Both of mine had to be replaced without visible damage, but showed moisture inside while at the repair shop.
Not to preach, but I do believe there is validity in holding people accountable. If the driver didn't have a license I would absolutely get police involved. (Unfortunately, as easy as a license is to get, this is a significant red flag to me) Good person or not, poor decisions should carry accountability and potential consequence.
Really hope your situation is as simple as replacing the bumper panel!

I took the bumper cover off and no damage was made whatsoever only the dent. Sensor was intact. I found a replacement part but I’m still skeptical on it since it’s not oem and don’t want to get a color that is not similar to the super white. I’ll just wait and call my local dealership and see if they have one in stock

Totally get it! My sensors and mounts were both reused.
The body shop did tell me because mine was a 2020, as is yours, the paint match was the easiest part of the work. Hasn't had any time to fade and blending wasn't necessary on separate panels. Hopefully you find this to be true for you also!

No license probably impaired and lost it. At 1000 miles I wouldn't have let him off. That's a brand new truck.

You messed up OP. There is a reason he doesn't have a license.

Hope no problems show up later on down the line with TSS. I've got a buddy who had to get rid of his Tacoma because someone tapped him just like you but the electrical gremlins that followed after the TSS was just slightly damaged and then repaired were such a burden he didn't want anything to do with the vehicle anymore.

I'm sure the guy who hit you is nice enough to help you get a new truck if that happens.

I swapped my chrome caps for non-OEM body color ones from ebay and they are nice. perfect fit, good color match, and inexpensive. would recommend. https://www.ebay.com/itm/264123780345
