Let me preface this post by saying that I completely understand that it’s normal for water to get inside the door. However, it should stay between the inside and outside door skins and drain out the drain holes. During heavy rains, I’m getting water between the inside door skin and the plastic door panel. Anyone have any guesses before I start taking things apart? First pic is my truck. Second pic is someone else’s for reference.

Pop the door panel off and check that the butyl adhesive and plastic sheet are making good contact.

Those kickers have big magnets, sticking into the door a lot further than the Oem speakers. This when water gets passed the window seals and drips down through the door, it’s hitting and connecting on the magnet of the kicker. Then running down the cage and dripping out from there

Edit: Nevermind second pic isn’t from OP’s truck

you can clearly see in my pic that the drain hole is wide open. That’s definitely not the problem.

I know it’s been a while but I figured I’d update the thread since I’ve seen a few others having this problem. That’s exactly what it was. There was a small section where the plastic sheet wasn’t stuck to the adhesive. Easily fixed and no water after 2 days of heavy rain.

I was never able to hear it. I will say though that it is normal for water to get inside the door(that’s why there are drain holes) and I believe that shroud is there for that very reason, to keep the speaker itself from getting wet.

Get somebody to wet it while you sit inside with the door panel off...

I’d be willing to bet you have the same problem I had. Probably a gap in the butyl tape that seals the plastic sheet. If you have a garage I’d pop the door panel off while it’s wet so you can see where it’s coming from. It’s easy to take off.

Did you just stick it back in place or did you adhere new butyl tape? And yeah i was reading another thread, another person had the same with his 3rd gen but his was 3 of 4 peeling off. Im assuming it could more than likely be the same issue as I had some slight work done by a technician probably peeled the tape and came loose again as it doesnt adhere quite as strong as it usually does after its been taken off.

I just pressed it back into place. It didn’t leak for a few month but has since returned. I’m certain it came loose again so I’d recommend getting some more to stick in the area.

I will look into it when the rain stops. Hopefully no electrical damage
