Hi, my name is David and I've been watching this forum for a number of years. I've been a Tacoma owner for years but have recently found myself going off the beaten path more and more. This, coupled with the fact that I live in Yakima WA where there are tons of places to explore, has me leaning towards upgrading my old reliable 2008 4x4.

Hi David  welcome to the best damn Tacoma forum on the interwebs :hattip:

You can definitely hold onto that 08' and make it more trail worthy. Then maybe get a new one to haul it to the trails. These days that could work out to be the cheapest option. You could get away with a new 2WD Access Cab with a manual transmission. Then all the money you'll save could possibly fund the entire build project.

Just depends on how hard core you want to be.

Thank you all for the welcome and the helpful links. I've been scrolling through and the "so you want to buy a tacoma" thread is awful and brilliant. Fortunately I want my current truck to be more capable...not buy a new one. At the moment I think it just needs a refreshed and toughened suspension, wheels and tires, and maybe some other little additions.
