For that price I think it should have GPS.

I think having GPS is a great insurance for any question regarding your speed such as being pulled over by police to collision incidences and protecting you from being liable potentially.

I've been very happy with the Viofo A119 v3 I added to the truck recently. Good quality, and you can get a bundle with GPS, as well as a hardwire kit if you so choose. They also have the 129 Duo, which adds a rear facing camera as well.

Image quality is great. Got a deer headed across the road on my first trip out. This is a still captured from the video.

I stand corrected! Really good deal. They should put that on the sign with the price.

I'm using a Roav C2 Pro. It's not the smallest or fanciest but it works very well and is an affordable HD dash cam that works great in low light. Simple install - Stick to the windshield and plug it in to a USB plug, hide the wire.

My wife got it for me because I have concerns about the way people drive (or don't) and wanted a witness should anything happen. Specifically idiots on motorcycles that split lanes at 100 mph between me and a semi truck. I can see them bouncing off my fender then I get getting stuck in the mess.

It turns out that it's worth every penny just to capture the morons driving on the road and post it to Youtube for your enjoyment.

Most of the newer vehicles have data recorders (including a camera), including my 4runner. However, it's primary use is for Toyota to protect themselves. See page 9
The vehicle is equipped with sophisticated computers that will record certain data, such as:
    • Engine speed/Electric motor speed (traction motor speed)
    • Accelerator status
    • Brake status
    • Vehicle speed
    • Operation status of the driving assist systems
    • Images from the cameras
Your vehicle is equipped with cameras. Contact your Toyota dealer for the location of recording cameras.
However, I doubt Toyota is going to share any of the data unless there is a crash. Even then I bet you will need a court order or an act of God unless they are implicated. So the dash cam is your best protections against morons that drive like crap.

It comes with a 16 GB SD card I think. But I'm not sure where it goes. Probably in the camera itself. Also comes with a hard wire kit and a cigarette lighter type connector so you have the option.
