At least I still have the OEMs; I'm gonna drive around with these for a bit and see how they fare...

If I don't like them, it's incredibly easy to change them back!

2007 VW GTI - all stock, obsessively cared for - ate a turbo, cam shaft follower bit the dust early, coking of intake valve stems caused misfires, flywheel rattled, air conditioner compressor locked up on a long trip and left me stranded, electric gremlins, timing belt squeaked, sold it to Carmax when I saw metal flakes in the oil at 57k miles. Bought my '06 Tacoma right after and have been driving it for close to ten years with nary an issue. I'll never buy another European car again. Right now have a Honda, Subaru, and Toyota in the stable and have been totally spoiled on the reliability of these vehicles. We're looking at getting a Tundra sometime in the near future, but waiting until things settle down a bit and dealership stock goes up again.

    Like, so many.
Back in high school one of my friends had a Le Car. We used to pick it up and move it to hide it from her. It was the weirdest car.

We had one of those as a project car in high school auto shop. I only remember that the wheels used only three lug nuts. I don’t think we ever got it running the whole semester.

1985 Chevy Cavalier wagon (aka "The Cadavalier")

got it from my grandparents when I was in college in the mid 90s and kind of felt cheated on a free car. Once the odometer crossed 58k, pieces literally started falling off of the car (just unimportant stuff like brake calipers, CV Joints, and water pump, though. Last GM product I will ever own in my life.

When I traded it in on my first tacoma after graduating ('97 X-cab 5lug), I got $300 for it and felt a little guilty until I figured out how bad I'd been screwed on the terms of the lease.

In 1975, I bought a brand new Vega GT wagon, need I say more...
Easily the biggest piece of shit I ever had the unfortunate agony of owning. It wasn't quite 4yrs old, I gave it to the neighbor kid, think he junked it.

    LOL!

My first car was a used 74 Vega GT (it had a tiny 2-barrel carb vice the tiny 1-barrel on the standard Vega) My engine was fairly tight...only used one quart of oil/month. It got me up to the weekend I flew out of town to join the Navy. The head gasket blew the last weekend I was in town. My dad called to ask if I wanted to have it repaired. I asked him to just make it go away. I think he found someone who wanted it, so it wasn't junked.

The paint fell off of mine within 6mos. Along with the fuel pump issues (multiple times), the oil consumption, etc...damn shame. Shoulda been a class action on those turds. They were junk outa the gate.

Bit of a tough call.... I’ll just stick to the cars I’ve purchased new or near new.

And the winner is.... a 2000 Honda Civic. I think it must’ve been a Monday or Friday built car. Bought it new. It was a basket case from day one. Even left me stranded 2 or 3 times.

I got a book claiming to list the "500 worst cars ever made" as a gift a while back.

I was a little surprised to see the Ford Maverick/Mercury Comet on the list (had one back in HS). I just thought, how can it be among the worst ever built if it's not even close to the worst I've ever owned?

That Maverick had been used for towing by a previous owner and needed a pair of helper bars on the rear leafs to ride right, and I had to pull 2 of the plugs to clean off the burnt oil every few weeks or it'd diesel when it shut down, but it also ran for a month in the summer with 1 qt of oil in the pan without any complaint and lasted through being handed down to my brother (who didn't get the wrenching gene and now drives a Subaru) for a couple years before it died on the next owner when my mom re-sold it after he left for college. Overall, a pretty solid car for what it got put through

It was $75 plus I had to get it out of the farmers field. Spent two days getting it running. It was a beautiful baby sh!t green with a four cylinder five squirrel engine. Drove it for about 8 months before I understood why the previous owner abandoned it in the middle of a field.
