So I picked up my new 2020 TRD Sport a few weeks ago at the dealership, and did a good inspection of it at that time. However, just today I washed it for the first time and noticed that the rear bumper is a little different on one side -- like the bumper is pushed in 1/4 to 1/2 inch on then right side. I'm wondering which side is normal, and what can the dealer do to fix this situation? I might be obsessing about this little difference, but it's bothering me! Any suggestions?

That’s normal and each taco looks something like that but it can be adjusted.
Now look at the taco lean and see how the passenger side is higher and how the hood doesn’t sit flush with the head lights and how the front plastic bumper cover has different gaps to the body and look at how the tail gate has different size gaps on the left and right to the tail lights.
    My taco has all these.

I had the same issue on my 2017. Took me a while but I finally stopped thinking about it.

Yep, I mine was like that also. My bed was crooked also. I installed this off road bumper on the front and aligned it fairly well. I was getting anal on it and I realized the tolerances from the factory are probably greater than mine.

Yup. Common problem. You can adjust it yourself with some effort or have the dealer do it. It’s a bit frustrating this is still happening. But it’s not the worst issue to discover.

Harbor freight sell the T55 torx bit, you just have to loosen the bolts and give the bed a nudge to realign it.

I just adjusted mine the other week, seems to be common. Took about hr. Need to remove rear bumper cap, then you can untighten the bolts on top an adjust bumper. My bed was fine an aligned.
Need remove pop rivets along bottom, from underside remove license plate lights and hitch plug, you'll be able to pull bumper cover, be easy starting from closest to bed.

Wow that is not good! Hope you got the extended warranty! Was this vehicle bought used? Looks like it was involved in a high speed fender bender at the mall!

sorry I’m being facetious, it’s normal.

It's a common problem, though one side typically has a consistently wider gap from top to bottom, I've never seen one like yours where the gap is "V" shaped where as the gap is wider at the top than the bottom.

Hey guys, I appreciate all your comments.

I took the truck to the Toyota dealership this morning where I picked it up 2 weeks ago -- the service guy basically refused to adjust the bumper. He was nice and seemed to understand my frustration, but basically said they wouldn't adjust it since that issue is "normal" with Tacomas. Does that seem right? I'm going to talk to another dealer, but wondering what folks think.

Normal ... if it’s still attached and not bent . Don’t Worry about it . People are so anal with these trucks . It’s a a truck drive it and enjoy.
