    Lowes Slimline Tool box, OEM Bug shield.
    The gearing in my 4SPD, 2TR-FE is a pit to tall for my liking, but it does well enough. It might be better in a much lighter buggy. But I think I would rather adapt a 5/spd manual if that's even possible.

    The 2TR 4x4 equipped trucks come with a A340F which is about as tough as 20 penny nails. Although the LandCruiser (pre-V8) comes with a A343F which may have more suitable gearing for your needs. The A343F should be about as tough as railroad spikes. Both "should" have the same bellhousing bolt pattern. The more modern version of the A340 is controlled by a trans control module. I'm not sure about the A343F, but I think it was controlled by the ECU so that *might* put you trying to find an independent trans controller for the A343 if you go that route.

    I did some research on the A340E (in my 2006 base) and learned that it's also used in more demanding applications including the Supra, Lexus SC 400 (V8), 4Runner and Tundra (V6/V8). So I assume it is plenty stout enough for the 2.7 even if your buggy has some upgrades. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_A_transmission#A340E_(30-40LE)

    Out of curiosity, do you have the motor already? If not, 3rz might be a better choice, especially if you ever decide to boost it for your buggy, plus you’ll solve your adapter plate issue

    Nope still in planning/research phase. Why a 3rz over a 2tr-fe? Isnt that going backwards.

    Primarily because you’ll be able to use this as an adapter plate.

    3rz engine management will also be a little easier to deal with, depending on which route you’re going.

    the difference in power between the 2tr and 3rz is 10hp. Though power curves will differ and probably put the 2tr in the lead since it has variable valve timing.

    3rz boost options are quite a bit more abundant as far as off the shelf kits are concerned and cheaper. If you plan on pumping more juice out of it eventually.

    Use the a340 trans out of 95-02 trucks they sell controllers for them and are pretty bulletproof in my experience

    It is, just simpler and they make swap harnesses and aftermarket cams etc. for what you're doing

    The 3rz and 2trfe share the same bottom end btw
