Selling our prerunner since we went and grabbed a 4wd first gen. I LOVE this truck and if I could afford to keep it I would but I can’t. Details below. We are located in Springfield Mo. asking $9500

    2003 TRD prerunner.

    Approx 172000 miles.

    Prior Salvage title.

Runs and drives like a dream.

Clear coat on hood and front fenders is toast and has some scratches.

Frame has 0 rust... was a Houston Texas truck before I ran down and snagged it. I took it to be inspected a few years back when I learned about the rust issues. Warranty was over so I took it to the best frame and collision guy in our town. He showed me a Tacoma frame he had just replaced so he knew all about them. Told me to keep the truck forever, the frame is rock solid.

Has rear factory locker which I have used extensively and is awesome.

Due to the prior salvage has a weird issue in wiring so air bag in steering wheel is not hooked up.

I attempted to add cruise control as well as it is pre-wired but there is something not working yet. Lever is installed and when actives the cruise light flashes on and off so it’s close but not quite there.

Has weather tech floor mats front and rear.

A.R.E. Campershell with Yakima tracks that I personally installed. Has interior light and is correctly wired with plug for easy removal. Campershell and tracks have been throughly tested as we had a very large Roof Top Tent on this for some great trips and have 0 issues. Moved the tent to new truck.

Custom Drawer system my friend and I built for our family camping trips. I love it, way better than the new system I built for new truck because we got a giant fridge.

Has some janky nerf bars that were on it 12 years ago when I bought it. They are still solid but have a bunch of rust on the bottom. My plans were to remove them for sliders. We have stood on them tons working our roof top tent and gear on our roof.

I think it has a slow leak somewhere win the power steering system but I can not find it.

New tires and the wheels are in amazing condition. They came off the new truck we got and were very well cared for.

Does not have the spare tire, some jerk cut the cable and stole it.

Ask any questions about anything I forgot to mention.

Just because it doesn’t have 4wd doesn’t mean you can’t off-road with it. Trust me, ask me how I know. This will be a great truck for someone for a long time. If I could afford it, that person would be me.

Potentially yes. I can’t promise they will fit your bed though. I tried to move them to my other first gen short bed and they were a smidge too long. They fit this truck like a dream so ideally they would go with the truck.

Not trying to be rude as I am in the market for a 4door butttt. Salvage title, peeling paint, almost 200k, frame replaced by non Toyota, and several issues listed and asking top dollar? I’m interested but no we’re near that price. If you decide to come significantly down let me know.

Not to mention that there actually is rust on that frame. Look at the leaf spring brackets. It’s nothing crazy but you do have rust on that frame and if it’s on the outside it’s most likely also on the inside. And a power steering leak.
Also not trying to be rude, but your truck is not worth what you’re asking. I mean go for it because I’m sure there is someone oblivious enough that will pay that for it but if that was my truck I wouldn’t feel right selling it at that price based on the pics and your explanation of the truck. Also it’s not 4x4 which is the more valuable part on a Tacoma. Again not trying to be rude but personally I think you should lower the price a little bit. I guess I shouldn’t care lol, it will only increase the value of mine. Good luck:cheers:

Frame wasn't replaced, it was compared to one that was just replaced he said. This is a slight project for the price of a nice 4wd. disconnected air bag, cruise control? stolen spare tire, poor paint, rusted out step boards, rebuilt title..what else does one get for $9500? Think you're going to be enjoying this for many years as your mechanic friend said.

Boy.... so glad you all shared your thoughts. So helpful. No wonder people shit all over this forum for being a crap hole place. If you can find the same truck I’m selling for the price you think it’s worth, not trying to be rude here, then buy it. If you can’t, maybe.... just maybe I’m not too far off on my price. How about I only mention all the positives and not the negatives. Would that make you feel better? I’m being honest and in fact over emphasizing the negatives so someone that drives several hours to look at it knows ahead of time what they are going to see. It’s called honesty. If no one buys it, then I’ll lower the price. But to be honest, you guys are jerks and you suck. Not to be rude.

Found one in Oregon. Good frame. Power steering issues. dents on doors and fenders. 4wd actuator issues. And he wants 3k which I still think is high...

I guess people forget when these trucks were new cost around 20k and the current used market for a pristine 4door is 10-15k depending on miles and trim and aftermarket crap. But ask for the moon and take what you get i guess.

Sorry not sorry to hurt your feelings. You hurt mine with your absurd pricing. I’m offended :luvya:

Lol dude the reason saying I’m not trying to be rude is I’m not, I wasn’t meaning to be a jerk but when I see someone asking way to high of a price for a vehicle that isn’t worth what the buyer is asking, I’m going to throw in my opinion because you’re truck isn’t anything special to ask such a high price and I’d hate to see some stoked kid buy the truck at such a high price because “it’s a Tacoma” but really it’s still just a 17 year old truck that isn’t that nice. Just because it says Tacoma doesn’t mean yours is worth the same as nicer trucks. I’m looking out for the buyer who spends that much on that truck, I bought my 4x4 double cab, with a lift and tires, absolutely rust free frame and body for 11k.
Maybe you should rethink this thread, if everyone is saying you’re truck is not worth what you’re asking, then maybe it’s not. No reason to be a douche when we weren’t trying to, at least I wasn’t trying to be a jerk.
How much did you buy youre 4wd Tacoma for? And be honest, would you buy that truck for $9500?
I can see trying to make a profit but seems like you’d be getting a fat profit at that price, unless you’re selling it so high because you have a loan on it and that’s not far above what you own.

This guys thread is a perfect example to compare to yours lol, he is asking 13k and the truck is absolutely immaculate and comes with a roof top tent, which to me is a respectable price for what he’s got.
Just using it as an example of what actual pricing of these trucks should be like.
Yes he’s asking 3.5k more than you are but he has about 6-8k more actual legit value not just because it’s a Tacoma.

Anyways, hope you sell it and don’t rob someone lol

Everyone isn't "giving you crap" your truck is overpriced by 3-4k easily. I bought the same truck 5 years ago with 180k in immaculate condition for 8k in California which is known for "Tacoma tax". Good luck with your sale but the fact you're being so defensive rather than taking the input in an effective manner shows you know what's up. If you get your asking price for the truck, more power to ya.
