    I take this back.
You should move to or buy property in a non-smog county and replace your engine with either a turbo diesel of some sort or V8.

Yeah, but I also know my truck is very quickly going to go from 4600lbs to 5500lbs once I finish the SAS.

I've had a few friends say I move to Colorado, but I'm in no financial position to move at the moment.

I’ve had my truck for 8 years and about 120,000 miles. I’ve done all kinds of repairs-CV axles, Carrier bearing, all the suspension components minus lower control arms, timing belt, replaced the whole AC system, installed supercharger, built a camper, valve cover gaskets, fan clutch...I could go on and on.

    Today was a first.

For the first time I changed the oil myself CB943538-D197-4203-A6DA-8B569FB84A79.jpg

No, I'll be shaving a ton of weight buy ditching the plate steel armor for tube bumpers. Also going to build a custom set of sliders for my truck probably next year. Also cutting all the brackets off the Super Duty axles, especially the front axle, will shave some weight off.

If you put big enough tires do you even need sliders?

Yes. I'm going to be aiming for a 125/126" wheelbase on 40s so even if I went to the Mega 58s with a 140" wheelbase, I'd still need sliders in my eyes.

Lmao! 66s on Meritor axles would be insanely overkill.

I relocated the spare tire from the back of the camper in the over hang to the middle between the cabinet and the couch.

    It was here:
    298DAC85-560B-4103-9728-F8C9887537FE.jpg

    Now it’s here:
    A0DDFD48-D6BF-493C-B8D0-A680F458774C.jpg

I wanted the weight lower and more forward.
Now I need to sort out what to do with the space where the tire used to be.

Otis24, I have had my truck for 23 1/2 years and 167k miles and have yet to change the oil myself! i used to change oil in my teens at the JL with an OPEN PIT so i do know how lol... so far the dealership garage has not 'priced me out' but they are getting CLOSE with the $50 'coupin' that also gets me a halfass tire rotation of which DT already covers at no extra charge, my costs over the decades have ranged anywhere from $19 to $35 now, the last one was complimentary because they left the drain plug finger tight last time and luckily i found it leaking one morning after a few hundred miles of driving with a loose drain plug "(
so far the only things changed myself on it are the air filter, top radiator hose, rear diff breather thing and frame coating (which is a HUGE pain in my arse!) ... and a front turn signal lens once very long time ago

*** how many miles is on that oil in the pan?, it looks quite dark from a distance here!

    It was super dark.
    It had about 4700 miles.
My air box broke upstream from the filter so the engine inhaled a bunch of dust.
I might do another filter and oil change after 2-3,000 miles instead of the usual 5,000.

Edit-it reminds me of my motorcycle’s oil after 5,000 miles. But that oil is also transmission and clutch oil so it gets dark super fast plus that motor red lines at 10,500 RPMs and cruises on the highway at 6,000RPMs so it takes a lot more abuse.

Even if you saw the coyote chomping on it, it's still somehow the burros' fault
