There is not much in a starter to cause them to act differently at different times. It's an electric motor with a switch.
If it is turning slow it is either in a bind, weak windings or not getting enough power.

I did. Took it out cleaned the contactors and no problem since. The copper connectors had a slight coating of dirt on them that was reducing the current flow. They are not fun to take out. You have to disassemble the motor from the switch while it is inside the exhaust headers. Remember to disconnect from battery also.

Yea, if it was any other job I’d call in and have a buddy take me... new guy at work and have some big responsibilities. And I like this job still.

I feel like my truck is taking forever to get here. :turtleride:

Damn, that sounds like a pain in the ass. Was yours doing something similar to what mines doing? It cranks fine after the first crank after it’s been sitting all night.

After our last Stoney ride months and months ago I had similar problem. It just stopped a few days later and I never worried about it again.

Yup, felt like it was struggling to start. It would sometimes fail to turn over at all the first time. I’d turn the key back and then try it again and then it would start. I just used a wire wheel and sand paper to clean it up.

I bet, those contacts have a bad connection because of the dirt but when it heats up it expands and gets better contact.

Well I just pulled the trigger on 35’s, sliders and HC rear bumper from brute force. I can safely say I have reached my quota for truck stuff this year...but next year will be here really soon :stirthepot:
