Any input? I have the base 5 lug and have been reading that if I put 30” ko2s it will put a lot of ware and tear on the truck. Would re gearing the transmission help with the ware and tear? Any opinions? I just love the look of the ko2s. Any help is appreciated.

Im on 235s (29s) and my 5lug isnt bad, in fact im thinking of doing 31s for a lil bit before i regear; if i dont have a 6 lug rear to use by the time my current tires wear.

Most ppl on here dont regear till they hit the 31s mark. Have u checked ur door sticker to see what gears u already have?

Okay good to know. Thanks for the input. And no I haven’t checked but it’s a stock truck so I’m assuming that the trans would have the stock gearing. However it’s the base work truck and not the sr5 so that might make a difference?

Most people don't regear till they go up to 35's. You'll be more than fine with 30's.

@Evenflow ohhhh okay. HAHAHA I was super bummed cause re gearing a tranny sounded expensive. Re gearing a rear diff sounds less costly. That’s some relief.

@Das it mang wait, I just looked closer. It’s not the vin that I need to read it’s the a/tm and the following characters/numbers right? I have an automatic.

You probbly have a 3 gear ratio, you can run kO2’s butnthe truck will be slightly sluggish and youll get worse gas mileage, and if you do regear for this setup youll mpg will take an even bigger hit

Fersure. Speed isn’t all that important to me. I’m 26 and bought the truck cause I don’t want speeding tickets hahaha. The gas mileage part kinda sucks but if oh well. It’ll look a lot better than the 215’s that I have currently haha.

A01A is urs. U have 3.42, 2 pinion open. U can do the 30s but eventually id regear with that.

I have 3.58 with a MT which makes it easier for me

@kairo im sorry that you feel this way. These and genuine questions and I really just don’t know. I’ve learned a lot so far. I always thought that re gearing had to do with the transmission. Is there anyway I can make myself more credible?
