Here’s a dumb question...what is this under my hood? I only ask because I’m trying to find a mounting place for my ARB air compressor and everyone is putting theirs on the empty mounts for this thing, but mine has it installed. It’s right behind the air intake on the passenger side.

It’s a 2017 TRD Sport Manual Transmission Double Cab.

Is it somewhere else on other trim levels?

Offroads and Pros don't have it because of their electric driven brakes rather than the vacuum brakes on the other trim levels.

Unless you are set on installing it under your hood, try installing it behind the rear seat on the drivers side. I guarantee it will last a lot longer without the heat, dust, and moisture inside the engine bay.

I would bet you that box for the peasants is cheaper to replace if it breaks in 10 years than what the royals got.

True that I’m always skeptical, but guaranteeing a longer life out of that component which is designed for heat, vibration, and moisture, by mounting it behind the back seat (which has no ventilation and is arguably worse while the compressor is running) is ridiculous. Unless of course you’re an engineer for ARB.

I’m probably looking at the bed storage box now. Expedition Essentials has a nice looking mount.

So you say its designed for heat but you're also worried about venting in a temperature controlled cabin? The alternative being a hot engine compartment, while your vehicle is idling, while your AC condenser is pumping out heat, while your alternator is working to supply the 60 or so amps that the compressor requires to operate? You must be the ARB engineer since you know it all. Kudos to you.

No, I definitely don't know it all. I also didn't guarantee anything.

Not much to watch here. Just yanking this guy's chain. I always laugh when someone "guarantees" something that they clearly can't guarantee. The other one that gets me is when someone posts on an open forum or facebook group or whatever asking for advice but specifically says "No Rude Comments Please". That's like "Don't Push the Big Red Button". You better believe that bitch is getting pushed!

Here is where I store mine. Unless it’s for an air locker it’s not that much of a hassle just getting it out when you need it. A642CECA-8B7C-40A6-B5F8-DBD73AA29428.jpg

We was in a underground coal mine electrical room and there was this big (4 inch diameter)red button on a panel box that someone wrote under do not push . My idiot buddy pushed it and it shut everything down except the underground phones . We called called outside for the electrician and he answered and said you pushed the button didn't you .
