I went SR5. I couldn't see a reason to spend the extra $ for equipment I will be swapping anyway. Not a fan of the pleather interior, wheel config and don't need the tech stuff. If the hood scoop on the TRD was functional, I would have pulled the trigger but since it's purely cosmetic, no thanks. The most we'll be off roading is to the shooting range or MTB trails. For the folks that bought the TRD line - good on you. Not hatin - just not in line with what I'm looking to do.

How do you manage to get that good of mpg I have a 2018 SR5 and the best mpg I've ever gotten was 20 while driving down a mountain road for about an hour

    It's several factors:

I don't have any mods that decrease MPG.
A coastal drive at sea level (as engines run more efficiently at lower/lowest elevations), with a gradual increase/decrease in elevation (500ft).
Very little stop n' go traffic (8 traffic lights). I coast to lights when I can.
I do drive a bit like grandpa. Mostly due to my cargo (three little kids). Also, I'm never in a rush where I need to step on the gas to get to wherever.

Here is a snap shot of my MPG history.

It seems it comes down to 3 points:

    Driving behavior
    Mods or not
The area you live, work & play at.

I rarely see mileage over 21.5 MPG. I think I MAY have added less than 300# to the truck with the bed mat, tonneau cover, and power steps. I Live pretty much at sea level (east coast FL) and the closest thing to hills I normally see are overpasses. There is a fair amount of traffic where I live and on my commute.

    So as I see it:
Area I live, work, etc probably not the problem
Mods should really not be an issue with the very low weight added
Driving behavior - I have a very heavy foot and typically drive 10 mph over the limit. Do you think this may be the problem with my mpg?

    :D :rofl::rofl: :eek:

Stop & go traffic can be a killer on MPG. But I think you've identified the reason.

If people are looking to gain MPG, they can increase by simply changing driving habits and planning ahead so that they're not deploying the lead foot. LOL

Still love my 2017 SR5. Did a trip down to VA (7hrs) and averaged 27 mpg which I was pretty pleased with.

If I could have got an SR5 with the 6spd, (sounds funny as an SR5 means Sport rally 5spd) I would have bought one. Had to buy the Sport to get MT in DC here in canada. Pro was 60k, no thanks.

No regrets at all, beautiful truck. I get compliments all the time. Sport suspension handles amazing on road and i like the trd trim extras. Will be keeping her for a long time.
