What is your recommendation for a shell? I am interested in LEER 100XR, ARE Revo and possibly the RSI but it is big bucks!

I'm a SnugTop fan for life now. Had a Stockland back in the 80's. Then a SnugTop in the 90's. An ARE MX in the 2000's and back to SnugTop in 2015. Best quality shell I've owned.

My preference is for the lower spec model like the LEER 100R. If you live in a cold weather area the frameless glass / locks with the cables end up failing. Cold weather hits and the rear window opens on its own. My dog also figured out how to grab the cable and pop it open (even if locked), so she had to be in a crate whenever left in the truck... Might not apply to your situation.

Used to be all about Leer, and they're great, but i realized that they're too heavy.

I had the usual bed cracking below the tailights, bed stiffeners took care of that. Now the upper seam above the taillight is starting to crack!

Can't have my truck bed cracking into pieces.. currently waiting on a Alu-cab, they're MUCH lighter and just as strong/secure.

I also like the way the truck handles and drives without 250+ lbs back there

I have a SnugTop Rebel with windoors. Very happy overall. My only issue is with the electric lock. When it gets cold, it often doesn't work. I end up having to use the key. I've taken it in once for repair but of course, they couldn't replicate the issue. The shop is just far enough away from home to be a pain to drop it off for a few hours, so I've learned to live with it. I'll try taking in again this winter when I play golf near the shop. Plenty of time then.

I have a snug top as well, wonder if you could spray some oil at the lock to help prevent that during the cold season. I have not had mine a year yet and had it repainted, still need to hook up the lock.

I'm pretty sure it's a wiring issue as I don't even hear the actuator trying to engage, then randomly after 5 or more button presses, it engages and unlocks. The doors and my tailgate lock work perfectly every time.

Hmm good to know, I’m tieing it in with the tailgate lock so that they work together.

OP sorry to take away from your thread on this discussion.

I see you are just up the 405 from me. Who/Where is your dealer? My favorite was at the old now closed Travel land in Irvine but had to choose another in 2015 and did not care for the operation.

Discount Camper Shells in Long Beach. Just down the street from Snugtop Factory. Great service overall. Just frustrating with the problem. If I lived closer, it would be easy.
