I agree on the heritage wheels, the powder coating was $170 per wheel with them taking off and remounting and balancing - I tried to rationalize it but couldn’t, the heritage wheels are stupid expensive (if you can even get them). I think bronze wheels look good on most colors, have that on my cement Tacoma.

Sorry! I missed that little "if."

I still kick myself for not getting a 1st Gen back in the day.

There’s really not much out there in that segment. I broke down and bought a Honda Pilot as a second vehicle to my taco. I wanted a land cruiser or sequoia but the fuel economy and way dated design turned me off. Only other options are the Domestics like a Tahoe, but then you’re getting deep into land yacht territory.

IMO Toyota is really sleeping on the truck and body-on-frame suv front. Everything is old as dirt. Even the 3rd gen Taco is not much more than a 2nd gen. I hope they start pushing out some refreshed models.

With only 1200 of the Heritage Editions being made, I'd say 5K off is decent.

Totally agree. The good news is that I think Toyota is well aware of this and we can look forward to some significant product upgrades over the next couple of years. Check this out:
    https://www.gearpatrol.com/cars/a689949/new-toyota-land-cruiser-tundra-details/

"The next generation (Land Cruiser) will allegedly have just five seats and be significantly cheaper. The report did not provide a launch date."

My other half has a GX 460, and I absolutely HATE the front seats...don't know who the hell designed them, but the back support is FAR too low...I can't drive it or sit in the front pass seat for more than an hour without my entire body hurting and my legs going to sleep...I've tried every which way to adjust the seats and lumbar, and still can't get comfortable...the lumbar is too low and can't deflate enough, feels like a 2x4 pressing up against my lower spine...great vehicles otherwise. She gets a solid 18-19mpg.

yeah those seats are amazing, she had a NX200t F-Sport, with those type of seats, prior to the GX and they reminded me of my old S2k...very comfy and sporty.

GX460 or 4runner would be the best alternatives. Even those 2 are overpriced for their age, but at least the 4runner can be had for half the price of the LC when new. They can all be picked up used since not a whole lot has changed over the last decade. The GX460 probably delivers the most bang for your buck on the used car market due to depreciating more.

Yeah, I've been following the rumors. Just bad timing on my part. I was in the market for a new truck/SUV this year (actually for the past 2 years) and really nothing Toyota is making seems like a good buy right now (except the Taco if you dont have one already). Nothing seems to be coming for 1-2 years. Then I'd still wait 1 year after the new model.

I tried to like the Highlander, but that is one weird vehicle. Hard to find all gas models, the hybrid has the hybrid quirks, visibility is sh&* and the interior turned me off.

I'm sure in 3-4 years the models will all be refreshed and settled, and I'll do some truck shopping then. My 2006 Tacoma can surely make it til then.

    Happy with the Pilot:

    That Pilot looks really great!

I totally understand your position! You can fall into that trap of waiting on the next great car to come out and it never does. I really wanted an FJ when I first saw it at the NY Auto Show. Loved the looks and thought it would be practical. Held off buying until it came out. Drove it and didn't like it. By the way, nothing wrong with those FJs just didn't feel good to me. So I ended up waiting for nothing. You can wait forever ... and still never get what you want.

I had a 2005 Tacoma and it finally became time to upgrade. Not because there was anything wrong with the truck -- I loved it -- but it was an Access Cab and getting too tight with the wife, the kid and two dogs on longer trips. So I know I need a truck and locked in on a 2020 TRD OR. The problem is I sat in a Tundra and loved the extra room -- hey, the older you get the comfort is where you want to be! :). So I am good on the truck for another 10 to 15 years.

The daily driver is a BMW X1. I want to trade it in because it is coming up off warranty. Great little car and I really enjoy it. But looking at some of the new Jaguars and was shocked by how good the new Genesis is. Probably will wait but won't wait forever. I don't have forever, after all !
