Hey everyone. My name is Steve and I live in Denver Co. Got a 2017 Tacoma TRD sport last winter. The back is built out for a mattress so it was great for camping this summer. As the summer went on, I got more and more into driving the mining roads and mountain passes. Didnt have too much issues out there, but I did do Imogene pass and there were some points that I realized lifting the truck up a little bit and getting some meatier tires would help. That's how I ended up at Tacoma World, lookin to get some info on mid priced lifts/tire set up. Look forward to getting into this awesome hobby as time goes on.

I was looking at 33" tires, specifically the 285/70/17 ridge grapplers, and was wondering how much of a lift I would need to avoid rubbing and what my options for the lift would be knowing that I am looking to get into more and more difficult terrain down the road. Also if you got any shops that you recommend to do that job in the denver area that would be rad.

    Welcome aboard Steve!

Several great shops in your area. Post up a hello in the Colorado regional thread and you'll get several recommendations from the locals for help installing the lift.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/colorado.172/

Unfortunately with 285s you'll have to trim some areas in the front wheel well, specifically the cab mount and some plastic. Do some searches on here and you'll find lots of info & pics to help guide you through.

    Take care

    Hey Steve welcome to TW!

As far as your question for lifts, it really depends on budget, how high you want to lift you truck, how often you'll be off road, etc...

If you use the search bar at the top right you can find thousands of threads on peoples opinions on which lift is better.

Here are a few from the 3rd gen section:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/search/12622394/?q=what+lift&t=post&o=date&c[title_only]=1&c[node]=186

If you're looking for a good shop to order your parts from for great prices I would recommend @HeadStrong Off-Road. They have really great options and Marie will help you figure out exactly what you would need that fits in your price range. And they offer free shipping!

Welcome to TW. I put KO2 285/70/17 on my 2020 TRD OR. Went with Bilstein 6112 with their 650lb spring set on notch 4. No front mud flaps. Haven’t had any issues with rubbing. Had RokBlokz on the front and had to take them off as I rub in reverse full turn. Once I took them off haven’t had an issue. You’re in a good area for shops. Runnin 4 Taco’s is in that area. They have a pretty good YouTube channel. Think it’s call Taco Twonz. Some good info.

Don't know how set you are on going 285 for the width, but you can fit skinny 33's, 255/80/17 or 255/85/16 without any suspension mods at all. May rub the front mud flaps, but I took mine off before upgrading the tires so :notsure:
I'd also recommend . I've bought parts there as well as having some installed. They've been great in helping with any questions or issues.
