Very true. I was a big customer of Discount Tire, but their service has fallen off and they are stock some of their own tire models, which makes it hard to truely compare.

I've gone with TireRack and now Amazon for our last sets of tires and have been extremely pleased. The shop doing the install work did a great job.

I used to work in a dealerships. Its all about getting their hands into your wallet. Follow your owners manual and find a mechanic you can trust. Dealerships are a joke except for warranty work. Let them do that but do go back after the warranty expires. I saw people charged for parts that were thrown in the trash at the Ford dealership I was at. I also saw warranty repairs ignored because the cars were at the end of the warranty and they would get them back on the owners dime later on. Dealerships are scum.

so "Service" in the industry basically is refereed to as "The Sunshine Treatment" among the mechanics. they leave the vehicle parked outside on the lot with the hood up. Seriously, i knew a ford mechanic years ago that told me that.

Yeah, you're getting "serviced" all right...

I used to drive a Chevy Silverado 2500 HD with the Duramax. I brought it into the dealer where I bought it for an oil change or something and the guy who wrote me up ("Service Advisor" of whatever he was called) went through a list of optional items that I really should have done ASAP. I looked at him for a few seconds and said, "You know my truck's a diesel, right?"... Yep, all of the these things that I couldn't live without were for a gas engined vehicle. His response was "Oh".
