    They are the absolute best plus lifetime warranty so the quicker you get it the cheaper it will be over the years you use it. It was justified for me because of what I do for work.

    @Gritto :anonymous: story time:

    I was a teaching assistant for a raptor biology course. Instructor is one of my mentors and uncle/big brother types to me, still in touch today. On a field trip I drove a van and he drove another. "Van Halen to Van Helsing, I see some raptors lets pull over". I had my group of students looking through a scope on a ferruginous hawk. He walked over and asked what we got. I told the students to tell him what it was and how they knew. They told him the species and what identifying marks they used. He asked, adult or juvenile? They said we can't tell. He asked me, I said its too far out to see the redish versus brownish plumage that would distinguish its age. He looks through his binos, swarvoskis, and says it's an adult. I said, bullshit! You can't see it from that far! He warned me once i look i will know what I'm missing. I looked through his binos and could see the redish plumage clearly. Well, 5 years later I had $2500 in reward and recognition money (gift cards) from my job and bought a pair. One of the best purchases of my life. Bring them with me for all my field work.

    Yeah they are definitely good. Running a vortex Razor HD currently. They have an amazing lifetime warranty as well. For the price difference I cant see a huge increase in value so it'll have to wait untill i have the extra cash and nothing else more important to grab first.

    Yeah, I get that. For you, your trying to see the animal. I'm trying to see little differences in plumage and distinguishable marks being age, species, etc.

    Yeah there is a definite difference in optical clarity between the two. At my level I need to be able to see and count points on an antler, rings on horns or identify sex of an animal. Current setup does this well enough. I don't have to see as small of details as looking at birds. seeing "good Enough" and having the zoom I need and still being light is what I go for.
