    picture quality looks pretty good
are you doing anything with the lower shield under the fuel tank before it gets worse?
mine was starting to look just like that and decided to have it powdercoated black and it came out nice so far, has yet to see a few winters

One of these days I’m gonna build my own to replace it... I made my own front skid plate and cut TRD into it, looks pretty badass, but I’m biased. One of these days I want to rebuild the whole truck from the frame up, so if I ever get around to that, I’ll definitely make my own.

Had to be perforated, or in lay mans terms, have holes in it. If the holes in mine had creeped up a year and a half earlier than they did, I’d have had a new frame. For a while they were taking ball peen hammers to frames to check, but that was ended quickly. Regardless, the warranty has essentially expired for everyone.

I had heard the warranty was for 15 years. But I checked a vin on 2004 dc that was for sale from a small dealer just today and toyota's website said it had no open recalls or extended service warranties.

There were a lot of caveats to the extended warranty, depends if your truck was under coated by Toyota, etc. The 15 years was also from what Toyota calls the DOFU date, or date of first use date, which is the day that the vehicle drove off the lot. So just because it’s an 04 doesn’t mean it hasn’t passed its DOFU date, which would mean the extended warranty is expired.

So today I just spotted some scaling rust on one side of my frame back in front of the rear leaf springs.

It seems that there are a few spots that are scaling, flat piece of rust pealing off. in just one section.

The outside I can strip and grind the rust out and seal,

But how do you address the inside of the frame were just my finger will fit in?

Just spray it with Fluid Film?

It’s just this one section that I see rust at.

I'm sure more have experience with spraying FF inside the frame. I'm planning to use the spray wand in this video for treating the inside of mine.

Here's a Tyler/Kilgore Texas frame looking out from the inside. I haven't done anything but wipe it off. I don't think this truck has seen any salt.

Got a little bit of chipped paint at this location.

I had the rust cut out when I added the frame support bracket to both sides.
    Zero rust now.
    Welding beads come out beautiful

I put a few coats of Rust-Oleum black primer today after wire brushing the inside frame,

In a few days will apply a few rust oleum black paint coats

As the welder only you can decide if your good enough to do the job .

unsafe only if your having a bad day and don`t fix your mistakes

What size rectangle tubing are you planing on??

The welding is the simple part The prep work fit up and keeping things square is the real work.

Pictures are great maybe start your own thread .

This hole in the front cab support was enough for Toyota to replace my frame right at the tail end of the service campaign in March of 2020.
