It can but it depends on a lot of things. My advice, it works better for things like concerts and tattoos that can't exactly be returned.

Or you just have a relationship where both of you have set amounts of spending money and just blow it on whatever you want without judgement. It's worked fine for my wife and I for as long as we've been together.

That being said, buy all the cool stuff before you go the wedding / house / kids route (if you haven't already). Not because somehow the relationship will change, but because you simply won't have the extra money in the budget.

 

Shes frugal/smart with money. Me, not so much. But its good. She balances me out.
