My passenger seat shakes and rattles while driving around town. Our city streets are terrible; potholes, bumps, and generally not smooth. I've stuffed a microfiber between the console and seat and that usually works, but makes getting in the console a pain. I have leather seats and I think they might be contributing to the problem. Seats are securely fastened, it's just the setback that is being shook in town. Interstate driving is fine, and it's perfectly fine when occupied. Any creative solutions?

Mine does the same thing! Only started annoying me recently. Wonder if this is a common problem/design issue...

Mine has done this since the day I drove it off the lot. I have a wash cloth jammed between the seat and the center console. Seems to help some.

Make sure it's fully locked in, I thought mine was loose and it just was between settings.

This. The seats are too wide and rub against the center console. Worse with the Limited's leather.

My 2020 OR Prem with leather has done it since new in mid November.I stuffed a mirco fiber towel between the seat and console..works great. Yesterday I used the towel to wipe off the dash and didn't replace it...been driving 2 days with out seat rattle...go figure.

2016 here.....one of the issues that has never been resolved for me along w/ the weird floorboard/steering wheel harmonic vibe that will kinda numb the hands & left foot.

My 2011 did the same thing

Yup mine's done it since pretty much new, mainly on the freeway. I lean the seat back when no one's sitting in it and it goes away. Props to Toyota for stuffing huge leather seats in there, but I figure SOMEONE should've noticed the rubbing noise on the many miles of testing they do, especially two model years in. Oh well, it's a minor gripe.

Both of my 3rd gens (2018 and 2020 ORs) had/have this issue. To be clear, it's the UPPER half of the seat that's the culprit. It's worse with Katzkin leather than it was with the factory cloth. I got an assorted pack of stick-on felt furniture feet and stuck a long one on the passenger side of the center console. It has pretty much eliminated the problem:

I put the seat all the way back and adjust tilt back abit and the rubbing stops

That's it, mine does as well. I've put Amour-all and 303 which helps until it dry up.

Lol. It's funny to me that this is a common issue on Tacoma's, even past generations. I mean wtf about the design of the truck is causing the seats to excessively shake under certain conditions.

Mine only noticeably does it past 75 mph which is perhaps fair enough but still. It doesn't do it if someone is sitting in the seat though. I believe it's some type of harmonic vibration down in the frame/body that gets amplified by the seat when it's free to vibrate. I imagine someone sitting in it (or you guys wedging stuff in between the seat and center console) being synonymous to grabbing a tuning fork while it's ringing. I could be way off though. It bothered me at first but I gave up caring at some point.

My 18 was fine. My 20 has the seat shake noise on rough roads. Go figure.
