Hello all. Thanks for being here. I’m not new to Toyota or Tacoma’s but I am new to ToyotaWorld and really appreciate all the informative posts I’ve lurked on.

I just took delivery of a new Lunar Rock Pro last week. I’m loving everything about it but I’m having problems with the Rigid fog lights. I’ve owned numerous vehicles with factory installed fog lights and understand how they work. But this truck has a weird gremlin that I can’t figure out. During the daylight hours my fog lights work normal i.e., turn the switch to “on” and the fog lights come on and stay on no matter what position the headlight switch is turned to (except high beam, of course). Once it is dark outside the fog lights no longer come on under any switch combination. Just nothing. It has something to do with daylight vs. darkness. I’ve played with every imaginable switch and can not get them to illuminate during darkness. I will be contacting the dealership but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or can offer any idea as to what the problem could be. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Congrats on the lunar rock PRO! Definitely take it to the dealership and have them check it out under warranty. In the mean time, post up some pics of the awesome lunar rock color!

    Welcome aboard Jason

Have you double checked the owner's manual to make sure the fogs arent disabled during the night?

Maybe try to go out in a parking lot or your driveway after dark and turn the headlights on with the fogs switched on too. Then take a nice bright flashlight and shine it thru your windshield downward where the lower edge meets the dash. There is a photo eye there somewhere, can't quite recall which side but you'll see a round dark thing about quarter size.

Just another way to check that but check the manual 1st!

Congrats on the new Pro, such a great color!!

Thanks for the response Nate. Never thought of using a flashlight to trick it. That will be my next thing to try.

Nate, tried the flashlight suggestion with no luck. I’ll dissect the owners manual again.

Eric, I’ve tried it with and without the Auto High Beam on.

    Thanks again for your input.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
Is the Auto High beam switch on? Should be on the lower left hand side of the steering wheel? It should only apply when you've got your highs on but who knows, maybe it's messing with the fogs.

Op, your headlights aren't set to DRL Off by chance are they?
According to the manual, the fog lights can be used when the parking lights are on or when the headlights are on and in the low beam state.
