Before I pull the trigger on these items I just want to verify I’m not making any mistakes or misjudgements if anyone would mind giving me an opinion.

I’m due for tires and I’m ready to level the truck and ditch the ugly stock wheels.

I’m looking to get ko2 in 275/70/17, method wheels in 17 x 8.5 0 offset, and billstein 5100 struts all around. Is there anything wrong with this setup? Should I expect rubbing or to upgrade UCA in this case?

Also, id like to try doing the struts myself, I just want to know if I need to replace any other common wear items too or do the struts come with all of the parts I need? (Any kind of bushings, mounts, etc)

The truck in question is a 15 DCSB trd sport prerunner v6. Zero mods, stock everything.
    Thanks

You're going to want to add 887 OME springs or similar and an add a leaf for the rear, your tires are a little big to fit without a tiny lift.

You may need a cab mount chop, or at least a forward caster alignment.

As for additional items, throw in a 1/4" taco lean spacer for the left side and new rubber coil top hats. I would go oem or polyurethane if I did it again, it's only been 2 years and my kyb's look worse than my 8 year old oem rubbers did.

Thanks for the response! That’s a bit more than I expected. What size would you recommend to avoid having to add additional lift?

If you want to run totally stock height then the 5100's are a little over kill as they are adjustable for a slight lift, you could use your stock springs on the 2nd notch for a "leveled" ride height I suppose though and would give you slightly more clearance.

To the best of my knowledge the maximum tire size you can run stock without any modifications or rubbing is going to be a 265 70 17 or a 31" tire.

I can tell you your original tire size chosen (275 75 17) is one an odd tire size, 285 70 17 is far more common and probably cheaper, also both those sizes are approximately 33" which WILL require a lift and trimming if not cutting or removal of some things.

If you get a 285 wide tire you will need some lower profile upper control arms 275 you might not but they would be close.

I would still get a taco lean spacer just because they're cheap and do help, and new top hats even if you just get the KYB's because they will help ride and you have to have them out to replace your shocks anyway.

Doing the shocks yourself is not too difficult, but make sure you have a good torque wrench breaker bar sockets and jacks etc.

Also as a side note if you're not dead set on the BFG KO2's check out Cooper STT MAX tires I had BFG KO2's and had a horrid time getting them to balance, never really could, they were heavy and started to slip in the rain and were frankly disappointing off road and this is coming from a guy that's been a dire hard BFG shill and loved my original BFG KO A/T's the Coopers though are far better in all areas, quieter even, and really impressed me in the dirt and especially mud.

Again, I appreciate the good info!
If I'm being honest, I saw a local tacoma that I fell in love with and was trying to replicate it. It looked fairly stock, but used the tire size mentioned so I just assumed it would work. After doing a bit more reading I fully agree with you and I will reevaluate tire and potentially wheel size too.
