Well I thought I could figure it out by searching and now Im just more confused. I would like to upgrade my speakers in my 13' Double cab JBL taco. The stereo sounds decent, but after reading how people have changed their speakers and how they describe the differences in sound I started to notice the lack of quality sound, if that makes sense. In a perfect scenario I would get some speakers that are plug and play and fit under the doors. I don't like speakers that stick out and have external grills. So I guess that probably points me to the subaru tweeters for start. I would also like the speakers to be able to work with a new head unit if I wanted to do that in the future. Im satisfied with the sub right now, so I don't want to change that. If it makes a difference music I listen to is metal and any rock. I don't have a budget in mind since I don't really know what audio equipment goes for. Id be installing myself. Thank you for the help.

    Go to Crutchfield.

Many types and brands to choose.

I'm looking at Pioneer TS-A692C (6x9 component) in front and Pioneer TS-A652F (6.5 coaxial) in rear. Just a pinch over $200 then tax & shipping.

I'm stuck to budget restraints during this everlasting Covid. LOML insists to spend only for essentials.

I have looked at Crutchfield, but Im not quite sure what to look for. What size speakers for starters, and what ohm rating should I be looking for? Also is taco tunes the only place that sells PnP harnesses?

Spend more time looking at Crutchfield.

You can enter the year, make, model and cab style of your ride. Their site will sift to display what fits your ride.

They can also build your harness.

You should call them to discuss your concerns on the ohm ratings.

I use the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) principle. I look at the size that fits, frequency response, price and brand.

If you want plug and play just get the Focals.

I'm running Audio Frog GS690 6x9 along with GS10 tweeters. Both behind the factory door grills. Around $550 so not exactly a budget option but as I'm fond of saying, "buy once, cry once". I'm not JBL, so I 'm pushing them with a Memphis Audio line amp into a Sony DSP amp. Had the amp tuning done after my install and the soundstage and imaging is very good.

I do agree with dolbytone that Focal is also a good option.
