I get it, but the reality is Covid has changed everything for these shops. They are doing the best they can. Manufacturing and logistics has taken a hard hit. They have to be more careful then ever now because if they have the slightest outbreak, they get shut down. Atleast they haven’t started jacking their prices way up - yet

Ever since I learned about spending $1k and having the ATF sit on paperwork for a full year I've considered any order wait under 6 months to be pleasant. The same rule applies 'the best time to purchase is today or x months ago'. Wait times are a bummer, but find a good vendor and get your spot in line.

Leave it to the government to break down my expectations. More of us could use more ATF and less Amazon in our expectations.

A true blessing in disguise that your local shop was back ordered.

I just got a pair from Rock Auto, they have been going in and out of stock lately. Almost like they are getting two in at a time. I got an email notification when they came back in stock and was able to buy them, as soon as I bought mine, they were out of stock again...

I ordered a pair from Wheelers OR, that got back ordered which is why I went to rockauto. Pair from wheelers shipped was only 214$ tho!

Definitely, except for the more ATF, maybe less, get rid of the outdated ban
,,, hell my first can took about 14-15 months, SOT went out of biz just before approval.
I get the want it now feeling, and sometimes need, but our expectations are high.

We deal with Bilstein for the motorsports (roadracing) side of our business. They have had spotty or no stock for the last three years. It's been pretty pitiful.
Some of the wholesalers will stock up on popular part numbers when they are available, but many shops are just out of luck.

Looking up the current stock of 2020 Tacoma Bilsteins on the site, every 5100, Zone Control, B8 (6112 kit), 5160, 8100, for all the models, RWD or 4WD, are all backordered at both Bilstein US warehouses. The only Bilsteins in stock at Bilstein are the yellow B6 4600 fronts and rear (parts 24-265966 front and 24-265973 rear).

In a pinch I've been able to buy from European dealers, which makes sense for my personal cars where I don't mind paying market price, but for our shop that's not a sustainable model.
