What is it? An inline wiring harness with a foot actuated proximity switch used to enable or disable ECT PWR.

Who is it for? This mod is a plug & play wire harness for anyone who regularly uses the ECT PWR button. Some drivers enable this switch for daily driving or just towing use. I personally like how the truck drives with ECT enabled so I was finding myself constantly hitting the switch every time I start to drive. I thought about picking up an always-on mod that is for sale but then noticed that my truck drives really well around town but sometimes the gear “hangs” when I know I want it to shift up on flat areas or other driving conditions. What I found is that by toggling the ECT PWR button you can force the shift map to change then re-enable ECT PWR. This would be a pain hitting the button…so this hands-free mod was born.

    What can it do?
    · Plug and Play installation using inline connectors and add-a-fuse powered sensor
    · Option to eliminate the ECT PWR button but still retain the ability to toggle it
    · Hands-free ability to toggle the ECT PWR, keeping those hands on the wheel
    · Inclusion of aux switch illumination leads to tap into for custom switch lighting

Note: heat shrink, wire color, and assembly may vary from this picture, but the functionality is as stated

    Price/Models
$55 HF-TACO-BASE: standard model that includes OEM switch retention and standard Aux Illumination leads. Features as pictured above.

$50 HF-TACO-LIGHT: standard model that includes OEM switch retention but no external illumination leads. No item D from picture above.

$45 HF-TACO-LESS: eliminate OEM ECT PWR switch connection and eliminate Aux Illumination leads. It is still plug and play to the trucks harness, but you will not have the connections for the stock switch nor leads for aux illumination use with this “less” offering. No item D nor the ECT PWR switch side of the connector in A as pictured above.

$60 HF-TACO-EXT: includes extended Aux Illumination leads to the lower left kick-plate by the add-a-fuse location for any left-side switch needs you may have. Features as pictured above with additional leads to lower harness.

PRICES INCLUDE CONUS SHIPPING - please provide request with address in PM for other location quote.

Do you have a picture of it installed? I am a little confused where it actually goes.

Yes, I attached the install instructions but I am still refining them for the initial batch. The sensor goes in the driver side lower kickplate next to the foot rest.

EDIT: I will get the instructions clarified a bit more on specific hole location but this is a quick visual of the cab view.

So what does this do different than the $40 one on eBay $35 more?

@DevilDogDoc - I detailed all the features of this item I have put together so you can certainly compare it. I don't even know what's on eBay (or anywhere else) that does this. No one has ever had this style of product here, so I put one together and thought others might want one. Gotta a link to this another hands-free foot controlled sensor harness?

EDIT: clarification that though there are no other ECT mods known that are hands-free and button-less leveraging an optical foot controller sensor.

Are you referring to the ect always on mod on ebay?

This isnt a always on mod, this is a optical toggle switch. I have it installed on my truck right now(I helped test it). You turn the ect on and off with the flick of your left foot. No buttons, no always on, when you need the ect on, you lift the front of your foot a little bit and it turns on the ect, if you want to turn it off, you do the same thing and it turns off.

@MESO has the ECT mod built right into the shifter.

Yes, there are other mods that related to ECT control, in fact I had Meso's shifter mod until the wires broke - I take things apart a lot. This is hands free and foot controlled.....with illumination options. My MESO version didn't even have illumination to the OEM button when installed. You are welcome to choose any market offering you want for your needs, I just wanted something hands-free.

I was just referring to your quote of no one having a product like this on TW, which is subjective. But you definitely have a different "style" which is always encouraged. Goodluck man!

I think the big thing here is that this is not a normal switch, you dont push a button. mesos is a button on the shifter, the other systems are always on mods. This is a optical sensor that goes by your foot.

@wahoobie Perhaps a full video of showing how it all works is in order. I can make one tonight, as someone who has no stake in this as I already have one, and am not being paid I can make a pretty impartial video showing how it works.

Just to put it out for people reading this about the illumination option. This part is actually pretty neat. He has a wires tapped off the ect switchs lighting, so if you install another switch in the center area, you can use the leads coming off this mod to light up that new switch.

Yes, i got ya. I certainly mean the implementation not that anyone (Meso included) didn't offer some other ECT control. He's even seen my product before I posted it ;)

@5nahalf If you have the time/ability to post such a video of it's use that would be great!! I am sure it would help fill in some of the answers.

Excuse the poor production quality here, did have time to get drone shots, license some techno music or write a script.

I did double flick so the light flashed, a foot would be a lot more controlled and slower than my caffeine shaken hands.

AS a side note, you can see in the video when I show pushing the actual button there is my cb radio power button next to the ect switch. That cb radio button is illuminated using the wires coming off the ect hands free mod. Figure *D in the image in the first post.

    @wahoobie,

just wondering..... any chance an arduino or other cheap $20 pc could be rigged up? When I use ect, I tend to leave it on vs on-off-on-off. I do however sometimes get caught in the rev hang and get a little annoyed.

I was thinking that you could ‘proximity flash’ your foot, and it would disable ect and then 2 seconds later re-enable. This would essentially force an up shift and leave you in ect. I know, FWP that I don’t want to flash my foot twice.

But hey, if we’re going to customize we might as well ask for the moon. :)

If you raise your foot slowly to break the beam then back down (breaking it again) it turns ECT off then on again in one long foot tap. No other hardware needed. I do this all the time to encourage a shift.

My bad I missed the foot operated optical sensor part of it. You may have cornered the market with this one!!
