I have to admit that wider tires look cooler, but I’m a function over form sort of guy so I don’t fret it. I also don’t think a lift makes any difference as far as the looks go; at least when comparing tire thickness

Here is a picture of my truck with 255/85r16 parked behind a Ram for comparison.

And one off the road that shows the tire thickness.

Said screw it and ordered some 255 75r17 ST Maxxs. Throwing them on so Bronze TRD 4Runner wheels. Will be ordering snows for my stock rims when white stuff is in the forecast. Would LOVE to stud the Maxxs but not legal in MI. Figured the Maxxs will get me through the first couple false winters so I don't burn up my snows.

Report back to us. I think you’ll like the 2-tire combo.

Which winters are you going with?

Oh don't worry I will. Not 100% right now. Had Blizzacks on my 2012 Impreza and they stuck like glue. Have Coopers on my Prius and they're ehh. My comparison isn't exactly apples to apples. Thinking Nokian R3s and see how they work.

*Edit: apparently they have an LT3 in a 245. Interesting.

M/T's are great in the snow, but the highway home after sucks.

I vote Duratracs, used loads up here in Canada on our trails. Plus you can pin them.

Deep snow doesnt worry me, its packed snow and ice that really worries me. So its sipped and has chunky bricks for the snow.

My S/T Maxx have done very well in all conditions including deep snow, 6-18". That being said the midwest lake effect snow is different than the light fluffy we get here.

a tall tyre rather than a wide tyre is whats needed

the fat meats look the business yet dont provide the traction

tall aggressive treads will pull steer & stop better than the wide fat tyres

General Grabbers AT 2 now ATX go great in deep snow. I live in Vermont and have to drive up a steep hill to get home. No problem in 10'' to 12'' of snow.
