New taco owner here. 2010 V6 SR5 double cab and loving it so far. I know there are countless rust prevention threads on here, I've read through hours of them. But I want to hear, as of today, 2020 - the year of uncertainty, have you made your frame last?

What have you used? Fluidfilm? Krown? Nothing at all? I'm in the salt belt and have my krown appointment scheduled for late October. Planning on hitting the car wash 2-3x a month in the colder months as well.

I'd love to hear what you've done, what works, and what hasn't. My frame is original and I want to preserve it as long as possible since I plan on driving my taco for years to come.

That stated i do often make it up into the snow, but we dont typically use salt in the sierras so rust concerns are minimal.

My Tacoma is a 2014 and the frame looks new.....I power wash the underside as often as I can to mitigate issues with salt but months before then in the summer I spray everything with fluid film.

    I live in East Tennessee.
    I don’t do anything. I park outside 24/365.
I usually wax my truck in the spring. I can’t say I’ve ever touched the frame.
I run it through the car wash that does the under carriage spray if I think it needs it.

Again, I live in East Tennessee. We don’t typically have to worry about major rust factors.

I live in the rust belt where they have nuclear brine salt mix they saturate the roads with that eats the shit outta your truck . I have my entire underbody/frame coated with fluid film , and it does a great job at protecting . It is a mess yea and messy to work on . It ain’t like a Cali truck where the underbody is immaculate lol but I have no rust or corrosion (very very minimal corrosion)

If you fluid film in the fall, every year, you should be fine, for years to come. My frame was replaced, so with the new frame this is my regiment and it really works, cheap insurance.

Fluid Film or Wool Wax. Seems to depend which one you can get at a good price.

Check inside the boxed section of your frame, especially the passenger side. The water dripping from the A/C drain can drip onto/inside your frame and cause it to rust from the inside out.

I haven’t coated my frame with any aftermarket products in the past but I’m planning to touch up the rust spots with POR-15 soon.

Rust belt struggles are real. If only we used sand like the west coast lol. Are you running the original frame on yours or did you get it replaced?

If you pressure wash the underbody it will come clean again and look new but I just keep the fluid film on the truck . Next spring I might wash it off and run the truck bare over the summer and then in the fall I want to use wool wax (with less product on the truck now that I know where I can apply less ) . Then I will probably run the wool wax for a few years just touching it up when needed . I haven’t touched up the current application of fluid film in over a year , it still has good coverage . I used 11 spray cans u see the truck (AS11)
