It's been fifteen years since I lost Keefer (Pictured), the greatest hunting companion I have ever had the honor to have in my life. For the bulk of this time I have rejected the idea of another Lab, I just couldn't deal with the thought of opening myself to trying to fill that hole in my heart with a "replacement". As time has passed I've come to understand that another hunting buddy wouldn't be a replacement, it would just be another chapter in the story. That said I'm now ready to share my blind with a new partner. I've always had male black Labs in the past but now I'm looking for a yellow Lab. Partly because I want a dog that will be less likely to get overheated in a south Georgia dove field and partly because I want a fresh start with less chance of comparing every aspect of the new pup to those that have come before him. So anyway, I've been searching for a AKC pup here in Georgia and ain't had much luck and figured someone here might be/know someone who breeds yellow labs. I'm a retired Marine so if they happen to offer a military discount please let me know. These days every penny saved counts! Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read an old Jarhead's ramblings, looking forward to hearing from anyone who may have a line on a pup.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I will ask my mom, where she picked hers up. Was near Macon Ga, that’s where they live. I will PM you the contact info should it interest you.
You will enjoy your new companion, always nice to have a buddy around. But I feel what your saying, I picked up a new pup 3 yrs ago. Huck is a Catahoula and is a hand full. Wouldn’t change it for the world. He ain’t my old buddy Blue, but he will do.
Meaner than a gator, with a vice grip jaw; nope there ain’t nothing better than a Catahoula Curt Dog!

Keefer was a stout looking companion btw. Good on you for giving him a good home.

My dog, Draco, is a lab / wirehair mix and I found him at the pound for $15. Look around at the shelters and you may get lucky.

Not trained as a bird dog, but he flushes the quail/doves/squirrels out of my backyard like a pro! He's a natural, FEAR THE BEARD!

He was a british breed lab that a friend gave me in Japan. Funny thing was he only understood commands in Japanese. Smart as a whip and would flat shame other dogs. All my American hunting buddies started asking me to teach thier dogs in Japanese. LOL

PM sent. My mom got her block headed lab from the number I sent you and gave me her impressions of the breeder.

I thought my mom was taken back by the lady having a few breeds she working, and for that reason she may have felt like this person was making more pups then she should be.

Hard to say if that is a good lead...I don’t know, I didn’t go.

But then again I got Huck from a guy who had Catahoulas and Redbone Coons, and he had a shit ton of dogs. I would do it again in a heart beat.

If you want his number, I guarantee he would hook you up with a serious bird dog. But you would be driving to Middleton TN. Which is worth it IMO.

My buddy just got a German short hair pointer/lab mix. They got him from a family the breeds them for bird dogs. He's 1yo and 95 lbs and will fetch his little toy until your arm will fall off. Hit me up if something like that would interest you can I can see if I can get the contact info from them.

Yeah, not that I was looking for that reason, but $15 from the pound was a pretty smokin deal
