    Greetings fellow 5-luggers,

I recently bought a set of 16x7" 5 split-spoke alloy wheels which were originally on a ~2005 mustang. (Stock photo below.)

They need a little refinishing from some curb rash, but appear to be in sound condition otherwise. I'm hoping to start stripping them down over the next few weeks and wanted to buy the appropriate hub adapters.

My question is posed for 5-lug owners running Mustang wheels:
    1. What size hub rings did you buy?
    2. Did you opt for metal or plastic? (Why?)
    3. Where did you buy them?
I'm having problems finding consistent information about the center bore for this wheel or the Mustang in general. I've read everything from 70.3 to 70.6 (with a general consensus of 70.5).

Furthermore, these have a 1/2"x2mm stud size and 39H offset. Do you foresee any issues there? (Wheels are not my forte, nor automobiles for that matter :()

I ran the wheels from my 2009 GT for many thousands of miles with no issues at all. I did not use any hub rings or modifications of any kind.

Test fit the wheels first, but you should be fine.

I've read about a few people doing the same, but it worries me a dash, not gonna lie :D

Out of curiosity, what size are those wheels? Clean truck, btw!

    Thanks! Wheels are 17 x 8.

Edit: I just noticed you have a 2015 Taco, so take my advice with a grain of salt. Mine is a 1st gen, so there may be differences between the two platforms.

Hopefully somebody else with a newer Taco can chime in.

No spacers? Did they sit out fairly flush with the body or inside the wheel wells? Looking at the difference in offsets I thought a spacer would be needed to get it looking right. I'm actually going to pick up a set of those from an 08 GT from a friend this weekend

I've ran. 19in infinity wheels, 18in maximas and 18in Mustangs with no problem.

Did you have to run spacers or adapter rings on the mustang wheels?

I am looking to buy some 18" Mustang bullitt wheels that came on the 05-2014 Mustangs.

Any insight would be appreciated greatly. Thanks

if the wheels are lug centric and not hub centric you wont need a ring. Just make sure the bore is big enough. The wheels u posted appear lug centric, not hub. Source: me on jeep xj wheels lol

@Sperrunner running mustang wheels too i think????

The center bore size on the wheel is 2 5/8's according to the seller.

    I know my hub is 60.1mm and 2 5/8's is 67mm I think.

Not mustang wheels. Just look the same. They are American racing wheels

Well looking the wheels up online... I believe the seller measured wrong.

They are factory OEM wheels so center bore should be 70.5 not 66.6 like he was saying.

The wheels are definitely hub centric because they just use an acorn style lug nuts.

So I'll look to buy the hub centric rings that are 70.5 OD and 60.1 ID

I ran the 'wrong wheels' on a well pounded on SCCA car where the wheel opening was larger than the hub and threw the rings away after the 2nd tire rotation.

You have to use care in mounting the wheels, but it's not hard at all. No vibes even at redline in 5th gear.

If you decide to use the rings use metal ones, as the plastic will fail sooner than later.

Thanks I'll try that. I know what you mean by using care in installing them. Little at a time and making sure they stay centered on the lugs.

When I went looking for hub rings to use with my Cherokee wheels, all I found were ones with correct ID (70.5) but too large of an OD. Bought them anyway and turned them down on a HF mini-lathe....and Perfecto!

Even if you don't have a lathe, you usually don't have search too long to find someone who does.

Got them on. I think it looks a lot better. Who do you all recommend for a lowering kit?

Thinking 3" in front and 4" in rear... thoughts?

I discovered that the Tacoma mk2 has a 60.1 mm centerbore (same as other Toyotas, like the Solara). Tacoma mk.1 has 67.1mm centerbore.

i am (hopefully) installing mustang 17x8 with ET45 on a 2000 Tacoma 5 lug, i will update you as it all comes together. I included a before photo.

I bought these centerbore convertors from Amazon, very affordable (ebay options were much more expensive):
