Hey guys, My JDM engine I am pretty sure was used as an anchor so I purchased a usdm one from lkq with the truck and vin I could look at/check this time. Anyway a basic question I guess, why do they mark the 2 rear plugs and whatever the plug is at the bottom of the block. I figured if it was for detection but then why wouldnt they would hit all the plugs? Thanks guys.

Does the paint wipe off if touched? If so It could be leak detection paint

    I don’t know the reason.
But I know it’s common practice to place mark(s) after inspection.
The location of the marks don’t have to correlate to the part(s) that were inspected.
The sole purpose of the mark (at any location) is to verify that an inspection was completed.

Sorry for bumping my own post but its in regards to the same thing. I went on to slowly working on the engine as time allows and have been awaiting parts. So those orange markings also have plastic plugs in them with clear silicone (like a hole was tapped in each and inspected then capped, no idea what is behind those certain freeze plugs since they are in the head not the block). Any ideas? looks like I am buying a set of freeze plugs also. Good thing is everything else is looking good and coming off easy so hopefully the plugs spin right out when i tap the side of em.
