I've been thinking for a while about getting a new truck, I just have a hard time parting with money. I don't make big purchases on a whim. A friend of mines brother will sell me his 2019 TRD OR 6MT with 19k miles. Is the only difference between a 2019 and 2020 the power seat? If I were to wait for the 2021s to come out I believe they are the same as a 2020? I did read on here they the 2021s will be make in Mexico, is that a big concern? I've spend a lot of time on here researching the 3rd gens, I have test drove 2 AT's and 2 MT's, every time I get out of the MT I have a big smile on my face.

No concern about Mexico. Every year of the 3rd gen has been made in Mexico. The difference being that some were made elsewhere prior to 2021. I have one made in Mexico and no issues.

The 2020 has Android Auto/Apple Car Play too.

Lots of debate from everyone about quality and location made. Bottom line: doesn’t matter. If you can actually save some $$ by buying used then do it. In 20 years you’re probably not going to care if it is a 2019 or 2021. If you’re only saving a grand then maybe buy new. It’s your $$$.

Ya think THAT smile is big?
Buy the manual then swap out the stock canoe oar shifter for a Core Shifter.
    Holy crap! Grin city!

Oh, btw, my 2020 Sport was made in Mexico for what it's worth.

Thank you guys are confirming what I was thinking. I don't care about the apple/android tech stuff. He said he owes 31k on it and would sell it to me for that. If it is still in new condition for the most part I think that's a pretty good price in todays market? Or I wait for the 21s and inventory to stock back up and buy new for 35k or 36k plus all the fees.

Ah, the old its made in Mexico, is that ok? debate.

Its fine, the workers in Mexico are great people, they work hard, and show pride. Yes, sometimes things fail on brand new trucks, but its usually not the fault of the plant that assembles the truck, its the plant that built the part that failed.

Either way, you can get a truck made in Mexico by Mexicans, or you can get a truck made in texas by Mexicans.

I had the dealer order my 2020 from texas. Very pleased with the build. I was surprised how all the fender, bumper and tailgate gaps were dead on the entire of the truck. The qc was really good. My buddies 2019 trd was assemble with poor gapping on the rear bumper, plus my auto tranny performs smoother than his. Pretty sure his tacoma was built in mexico.

So one of the main reasons I got a new Tacoma this year was it was made in Texas last year & I wanted the model I got with a manual 6 speed I would never buy anything unless it’s a manual transmission so get the 2020 if you can has Everything as the 2021 and if you look for the 5 in the beginning of the vin it’s made in Texas FYi good luck
