You had me at regular cab, steelies and 235/85/16s. Updates?

 

265/75r16 SL Goodyear Ultraterrains on 16x7 Road Ready steel wheels (“sparies”). They were about $75 per wheel and my TPMS from the stock wheels worked on them. Pretty happy with the look!

 

Took me a while but I finally found a great deal on a new set of BF Goodrich KO AT in 235/85/16. Going to mount them up tomorrow. Will post pics. Trucks not lifted yet (gathering parts for OME 881 and Dakar leafs). So hopefully I don’t rub while I wait for suspension parts.

 

You should be fine, for a while I had 235/85/16’s with no lift and they didn’t rub anywhere.

 

You’re right. No rubbing. Here’s two bad pictures of them mounted up. I’ll try to take a better photo tomorrow.

The guy at the at the tire shop was trying to tell me that the center hole was the wrong size because there wasn’t a lot of lug thread exposed when he put them on the truck. I think he’s wrong and I told him so, but the nuts seemed to torque down just fine. From what I can see the holes are the right size and fit the round part on the hub perfectly. Am I crazy or do tundra steelies and tacoma steelies have the same center hole size?

pretty sure if they were different theY wouldn’t mount up as nicely.

Do you know the backspacing on these? are they the same as fj steelies?

 

Looks superb, @Al_Dente. I wish TacomaWorld in its entirety was regular cabs with steel wheels and tall skinny tires.

 

My best guess is they are the same. Would be 17x7.5 et15 in that case. I assume that is correct as the OE 4Runner alloys are also et15.

 

So I picked up 5 steelies; 16x7 +15 offset. The plan is to run them on 2018 DCLB OR stock suspension with some type of preferably non badged center cap, flat or not, black lug nuts and something along the lines of AT3s or K20s. The wheels weigh in at 27.8# each. My driving is country paved roads as a daily driver. Maybe 100 miles a week my off roading is mostly California desert roads like through Owens valley and coastal BLM gorilla and dispersed camping. So stock OR suspension is adequate so far. Pretty much have convinced myself to stay with a 265/70r/16 tire but could maybe go a little taller. Trolling for steel wheel/ tire combos near these parameters that TW members have experience with; black lug nuts that you would or wouldn’t get again as well as suggestions on center caps. Thanks.

Gorilla makes black lugs.

If the center hole of the rims is not perfectly smooth (i.e. it sits on little 'legs') then you can use FJ cruiser steelie center caps.

That dude doesn't know what he's talking about. Every 6 lug Toyota truck on Earth has the same hub diameter. But you do need acorn lug nuts instead of flange nuts. Looks like you're already on top of that, though.

 

If anyone’s interested I have this set of OEM FJ powder coated wheels with BFGs (65% tread) asking 700 in Bay Area

Lookin for a set of steelies for my 2015 double cab 4x4. Any other options out there beside the FJ wheels? Having a hard time finding anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I have the Road Ready brand steelies. Like them so far, same specs as my stock Tacoma alloys on my 06 TRD OR

 

Saw these online. How are they?
