Aftermarket front hitch in a front end collision?

    Has anyone experienced a front end collision with a front hitch attached? I'd be curious whether it causes additional damage to the taco.

    Depends on the angle and force of the hit.

    Just like a plate bumper that folks like. Great to a point, worse after that.

    Totally a how lucky you are thing.

    Shouldnt really effect airbags, but it will transfer all forces right into the frame. You are pretty much canceling out any impact absorption that the factory bumper gives.

    Think of this way. Put a sponge on your fist and go punch a wall, doesnt hurt too much. Now attach a brick to your hand and punch the same wall. There is no cushion for the impact so it will hurt more.

    I think ARB and their full bumper may have air bag compliance. All others *may* work similarly but haven’t gone through whatever tests are required.
