    Hey guys!

Apples to apples what's the difference between OME and Bilstein 5100's?

Is one better for a daily driver over the other?
FWIW I have an aluminum front bumper w winch and a steel rear bumper with camper shell. Thanks!

    I'm looking for a 2.5 inch lift. I know I'll need UCA's as well.

Get OME. I have had both on two different trucks. OME is more stout, ride is better, better suited to carrying weight (looks like you've got a bumper etc...).

No question OME over the 5100s.

Also, if you're just doing 2.5 inches of lift, you may not need UCAs. I've never had aftermarket UCAs on any of my trucks and I do long highway pulls along with monthly offroading trips. Never had an issue. Just don't go much higher than that - then you will need them.

Thank you for your insight. I appreciate it!
Right now I have ProComp ProRunner SS (similar to 5100's) with a spring from a 3rd gen up front. UCAs are from the 3rd Gen as well. In the rear ProComp ProRunner SS with flat leafs and a 1 inch block.

I have a set of 3rd gen leafs w 1.5 AAL. I'm wondering if I should run that with a potential new OME setup. What do you think?

I daily my truck. It only runs fire trails to training sites for land navigation and medical stuff.

Depends on what kind of terrain you spend most of your time on!

OME is progressively valved, which is better suited for more off-road situations and recovers much more smoothly in bumps and washboards but underperforms on the street compared to Bilstein 5100. Ome have a twin tube design so they are very much more damage resistant and can obtain a sufficient stroke cycle much more effectively.

Bilstein 5100 is digressively valved, making the vehicle handle g forces and turns much better. Bilstein is of a monotube design and can be a bit more jarring because the oil and gas chambers are located serially.

How the suspension feels is inclusive of the spring rate as well

The PrpComp are monotube and feel great on the road paired w the 3rd Gen spring.
I definitely don't want to go down in ride quality.

I really appreciate the information. You explained that really well. I'm still going back and forth. The OMEs would be on 885 springs

Man. It's looking like the OME are not the right choice for me.

Are their any other brands to consider for a 2-2.5 inch lift that's great for daily driving?
