My trail teams wheels for my '14 silver sky metallic truck are on the way, will be delivered tomorrow. I'll have a week to think about it while I'm sitting out in Dallas. I'd originally planned on painting them flat black (since the actual black OEM ones are stupid expensive now, I got the silver ones), but now I'm thinking maybe I want to do something different. What are your thoughts?

    Keep them Silver?
    Black?
    Bronze?
    Something else?

Also tell me your experience with painting. I've heard the hammered satin black looks great and holds up well. What about bed-liner? Plasti-derp?

I'm not trying to build a show truck, it does see some dirt but I'm also not really off-road more than a couple times a month. I'd like for them to be fairly durable but I understand no matter what I choose I'll have to touch them up from time to time.

Personally I’m not a fan of flat black, it eventually gets to the point where it always looks dirty.

Do you think a satin or gloss would alleviate that?

The problem flat or satin is the clear that tops the color is its not a flat surface it actually has dips in it. So if you don’t take really good care of it, it eventually just always look dirty. My paint guy won’t even paint flat or satin just because of this. Personally I like gloss black. Super easy to take care of.

I went matte black and have no regrets. I debated getting bronze for a long time, but decided the black would have better staying power, and less chance of me getting tired of it. My truck is always dirty anyway, so no issues with dust!
