I just learned the hard way that the shop didn't tighten the cranks on my Spur to spec. The strange little plastic ring that hugs the bearings on the non-drive side of my DUB cranks kept coming loose over the last two weeks. I ended up breaking the plastic by overtightening the little 2mm screw. Then, when I went to take apart the entire drivetrain today, I was able to unscrew the drive side crank arm using just my fingers and the 8mm bit! HOLY HELL!:eek::eek:

So, instead of the 54 Nm that it's supposed to be on the drive side which normally requires a breaker bar of some sort to dislodge, it was literally less than finger tight! That's just so incredibly fucked. No wonder the ring on the non-drive side ring kept coming loose! I'm seriously lucky that the cranks didn't completely fall apart out in the mountains somewhere, and that this only started happening after two months of riding.

I'm annoyed with both the shop that improperly assembled the bike AND myself for not catching this issue sooner during a pre-ride inspection. Stay alert out there, boys and girls, and make sure your shit is tight!

    fuuuuck....

Man I just took my cassette off and that was on there so tight I had all kinds of metal shavings coming off the Xc driver. Still intact but that was way too tight for something that had anti seize on it.

Welp sold my Transition Patrol that was almost 5 years old. It went fast and sooner than I hoped because I was looking forward to Oct. riding out here. Could't pass up the deal though.

Fortunately have my new on order and stoked on it. Just going to have to wait a while. Any one else looking forward to New Bike Day?

My buddy just got the 2021 Wreckoning. Reason why I sold mine early for the next upgrade. He's crushing the climbs now and obviously the descents.

I sold my Transition Patrol and bought a YT Capra right before covid hit. Took 7 days, from the time I ordered it for it to get to my house.

Was going to buy their 2nd tier Meta AM until I talked to YT and they said they could get it to me in 10 days.

Wonder if I could sell my Capra for what they sell for new since out of stock with no chance of coming back in stock until new model.

Im pretty sure you'll come damn close if not break even. Times are weird. I just left mine on Craigs List pretty high to see if any one bit. A guy offered a real fair deal and didn't need to haggle. Fortunately we have winter coming soon out here. I'll be ready in March for a desert trip before the snow melts. Apparently there is a bluebook for bikes. https://www.bicyclebluebook.com

Also, the head tube angle on this bad boy had me worried. Stoked on the seat tube angle. But Cane Creek has a headset that gives you .5, 1, and 1.5 to play with + or -. New bikes are coming with this option to give us the opportunity to dial in what we want. Nice to know you can do the same if this guy is too slack for the climbs. Everyone says it's sick as is so we'll see.

    not enough.
oh man. the new commencal's are very good looking. I need to do more research on how their suspension platform rides and pedals but just the look of these things are great.

yeah, the wreckoning was also a thought to buy but I REALLY wanted a short travel trail at the time of buying a new bike so....went with the new following. no ragrets! the wreckoning looks awesome too. I wouldn't mind having a wreckoning in my quiver.

Yeah man. Saw a great review where the guy sold his dream bike, A Wreckoning, and went to a 140 and was happier even in bike park. I started with downhilling so harder for me to make the switch so I stay in between and suffer a bit more on the uphill.

Almost went Trek but the geometry was pretty close to my 5 year old patrol so went for steeper seat tube and figure I can adjust the head tube if need be. Also kinda stuck on Aluminum still. I know I know but I would still gasp if my carbon went over the edge.

just make sure you’re good with back order times. Keep an eye on Nukeproof. Really considering their Mega 29 Aluminum. Haven’t released their 2021 yet. Curious what the geometry may be.

Someone will buy it up quick. All the LBS here can't keep their bikes in stock. Older bikes are going for close to MSRP on craigslist. It's crazy.

Yes, but I wish the Capra Shred was out when I bought mine. I rather have a coil rear and fox 38 forks.

After riding clipped in for 20+ yrs I’ve ordered some flat pedals and shoes. For no other reason than why not.
