Hello TW, I’m a longtime 2nd gen TRD OR owner about to purchase a 2020 SR DCSB 4WD as a new build and wanted to get some input from those who own and have built these trucks.

I have arrived at the idea of a starting with a SR model knowing I will gut the entire suspension and re-gear as these trucks require. The plan is to add an ARB rear locker while it’s getting Nitro gears. Buying a TRD OR will be around $38k + gears puts us well over $40k. A SR should be $32k + gears/locker = around $35.5k.

Are there any weird engineering details about the SR that make its 4 wheel drive system or rear axle less capable? Again the idea is not to start with an expensive truck when it’s parts will end up getting sold on CL.
