I have an unmodded 2018 Tacoma, crew cab, V6, SR5. I want to make it an overland truck. I understand the external components I want. However, I have no clue about quality lift/wheels/tires. And any other essential components so that it is built to last. Any ideas or recommendations would be great appreciated

Do some reading in Forums, “Wheels and Tires”, and “Suspension”.

    Prices vary widely.

I would start by describing your ideal truck interns of.....

Tire size, MT vs AT tires.
Roof rack, bed rack vs. camper, trailer.
    Roof top tent?
    Terrain? Mud, rocks, sand?
Toys you haul? Bike, trailer, Etc.

Unfortunately that’s a hard question to answer .. so many ways of going that route . If I were you I would talk to your local 4x4 shop to discuss your needs and budget . Forum is not going to help much since so many here have different opinions of things or You might get a troll and advise you to get the worst product .

"Overlanding" is a new term for car camping. Where will you be going? What you really need for the US/Canada/Alaska is a high quality set of all terrain tires about one size larger than stock. If you're going to South America however, you'll need a set of quality all terrain tires about one size larger than stock. BUT - if you're really going around the world - Africa/Asia - you'll need a quality set of all terrain tires about one size larger than stock. Your truck came with a suspension that will need replacing in about 150 - 200K miles so make it home before then.

You'll also need a Coleman stove and some place comfortable to sleep, and a simple shelter of some kind.
