Ok .. so im new to the page and i have a quick/stupid question perhaps .. so i recently lifted my truck and with the lift bigger tires right . So to the point . So the stock tires on the truck (265/65r17) about 30.5 lets say would run at 80 mph and the revs were 3100-3200.. and when i lifted it i decided to go with 285/70r17 .. and i noticed that at the same speed (80 mph) the revs are alot lower around 2800-2900... so if anyone can help me undertand this ...

It's probably off but not by that much. You're probably going slower than 80mph.

The tires are bigger, thus you go farther each time the tire rotates. The speedo needs to be recalibrated. DIY: Get a GPS and you calculate your new speed at x rpm.

    Allow me to try clarification.....

A larger tire, longer circumference, will have fewer rotations for each mile. This will cause the speedo to indicate a speed below actual speed. It will also retard the actual odometer reading.
