Try not to have greasy hands! I’ve got 21k on my 2019. The top portion gets shiny from my hands. I keep baby wipes in my truck at all times and those work great on cleaning the steering wheel. If that doesn’t cut it, on the rare occasion I’ll use a damp magic eraser and it’ll be like new. Just know that it is abrasive so go lightly.

Its probably not even real leather but maybe leather cleaner/conditioner and 303 to protect from UV.

Just be careful with some of those cleaners. I found that out the hard way with my last truck. Granted it was 12 years old, but still. The Armor All cleaning cloth kept coming up black, so naturally I assumed it was extremely dirty. Eventually I would get it "good enough" and walk away. It definitely wasn't real leather in this particular case because the finish material began to flake of in the spots I grabbed most.

Clean it good with a little Dawn on a wet rag. Then use leather conditioner. Like Lexol. Will look brand new and stay that way. Do this when it starts to look like it needs cleaning.

Dedicated driving gloves and a window screen. It will keep contaminates off the wheel and help against UV.

It might seem a bit extreme but it's the best way to reduce damage to the leather/leatherette.

303 about once a month. Make sure you wipe it dry after you apply it.

Keep a small white towel in the truck and throw it over the steering wheel. Did that for years with my Jeep TJ.

Towel comes in handy to dry your inside door off when using a drive thru in a torrential rain too.

My wife has a 2015 Lexus NX and I have the 2016 Taco. Both have leather wrapped steering wheels which looked the same when new. The difference is for the Lexus, I took extra care to make sure my hands were clean when driving it, no hand creams or anything like that. My wife also doesnt use any moisturizers on her hands or anything like that. When we use hand sanitizers, we make sure our hands are dry before grabbing the steering wheel. I also make it a point to clean the steering wheel at least every 6 months with Leather Masters Strong Cleaner and Leather Masters Protection Cream. I would also use this on the Lexus leather seats. The Lexus currently has 50k miles, and the steering wheel looks just as good as the day we drove it home. The drivers leather seat has some wear, but still has that matte look like when it was new. All the other seats look brand new.

On my Tacoma, I just didnt take as good of care of the leather steering wheel as I did with the Lexus, it currently has 30k miles and the leather is all shiny and worn looking. I tried to do the Leather Masters when it started to look bad, but I should have started when new. Now, i want to re-wrap the Taco steering wheel with new leather and start using the Leather Masters products.

I tried the Lexol on one of the Lexus seats a few years ago, big mistake. The seats looked glossy and didnt look like it did when it was new. I immediately cleaned all the lexol off with the leather masters cleaner and re-treated with the protection cream and it looked matte finished again. Now, Leather Masters is the ONLY leather product I will use on any of my vehicles. I took pictures to show the differences on how they both were maintained.
