When I first got my taco 219 trd sport dclb, annual insurance was 350 cheaper than my 2015 focus, 1500. It crept up a bit the next year to 1700 due to "that's the whole market", according to the ins company. This year I see a 500 increase to 2200, wtf??? Anyone else seeing these increases?

Not too many Tacomas sold in Canada.

You represent well but less than 500 a month are sold up there. 25K sold in US a month. If we did it by percent of population, there should be about 2500 a month sold in Canada if they were as popular there as here.

Interesting. My auto insurance rates decreased ~15% because lots of people are working from home. Less commuters.

I can tell you around Windsor where I live, Toyota isnt too popular. Being across from Detroit and having a Chrysler plant here (Pacifica van), most drive big 3 full size trucks. Tacomas are pricier here.....my SR5 V6 4x4 stickered for about $42k CDN new. A TRD Pro will set you back closer to $60K. You dont get massive discounts on Toyota products like the big 3 either. As for insurance, I am 41, clean record and pay $1200 a year. My old 2015 Chrysler 300C was almost $300 a year more.

Jesus. How old are you and where do you live? I pay a little more but that includes the truck, MR2, home insurance and coverage on a new travel trailer.

I'd start shopping around. Chances are they are trying to push another increase because they got away with the first one.

When comparing to 25000 500 or 800 or 1100 is basically the same... meaning nowhere close. Even factoring in the population difference and using as a percentage of population, they don't get close. Tacoma, for whatever reason, does not sell well up there.

I am decades into my driving career with a perfect record, Hamilton subarbs. Maybe "single" is really pushing up my rate. Unless I can find a better rate, this is really putting a wet blanket on getting a project beater for the spring.

I also wonder if this is the info company already trying to recoup from the working from home covid reimbursements.

I pay $1,773 for my Taco, and got a 15% discount this year due to Covid19 (less commuting)
