    Evening,

I have a 2017 OR, and I am installing the REDARC controller with the Tekonsha 3031 wiring harness. I have everything spliced together ok, but the Tekonsha harness has an extra white ground wire. Is this wire necessary? If so, Should it be spliced with the white wire in the harness? I did a search and couldn't find much info.

    Thanks in advance.

I used the TPH-015 harness from RedArc, it had the same white ground wire. There is a grounding point in the kick panel on the driver's side you are going to be removing. I took and bolted the white ground wire to that for my TowPro Liberty.
I would do that to yours. Having the ground is a good idea for safety. It could prevent and electrical short or fire.

Thanks for the reference. Ordered that harness. Now I am in a bind since I need to tow this weekend and am stuck with the Tekonsha harness.

I have the white ground wire from the original harness. If I spliced the ground from the other harness into the white ground wire installed and ran it to the frame would it have the same effect?

On the Tekonsha harness for the taco I happen to have the white wire that is supposed to go to the frame is pinned in with the white ground wire that runs through the harness at the controller end.
I think as long as you have a good splice it would be the same. I'd splice it where you are putting the two harnesses together if it were mine.
