But i get my 87 from the same shell station all the time to. I use to average 23 mpg with a peppier motor....now getting 21.6 and the transmission is constantly hunting on hills. Imo, no one is going to prove to me running premium in this motor is better.

no one is going to prove to me that 87 runs better than 93, imo.

Well...if you want doggier performance and worse fuel economy....have at it. I'll stick with 87 what the manufacture designed these engines to run with.

First tank full driving around town (breaking it in)........17.9mpg. I have the 3.5. Refill was within .3 gallons from what I expected to fill. Filled up within 1/2 mile of light going on.

CPS-65 I’m good for some, but I’m not for everyone.

I just got back from Mammoth/June. I averaged 26 going up with a side trip into Alabama Hills and 28 going home. Traffic was light both ways. Filled up in Bishop. Bishop to Alta Loma was in cruise control at 70 and ECT power. It seem like it does better on a road like 395 in ECT for the moderate hills. The TC lock/unlock and shift strategy seems to work well for this type of drive. Big climb outs I do manually and at 60 or so in fourth. It will go faster, but at 70/4th it really starts using fuel. At a time when mileage and fuel cost doesn't mean as much, for some reason, I try to squeeze more out of it. I guess I got old. Mine is a DCSB/V6/4X4 and I'm running 265/70/17s.
