So I did use the search function and I read what I could on the awesome fog light comparison thread. That said, I did not find info specific to the newer BD SAE fogs comparing the amber to the clear. Does anyone have any info to share?

Also, does anyone know if Baja has any sort of current discount / coupon code for TW forum folks?

    Thanks in advance!

I'd look into the diode dynamic fogs.

Yep, thanks so much. That's the route I'm going at this point.

Good call, much higher output intensity lights with less slight spill (glare) above the cut off. The DD SAE Pro fogs are 3x the output intensity of Baja SAE fogs before the optic fix. The Baja optic fix further reduces the output intensity. You can see the DD SS3s in post #2725 here: Diode Dynamics SS3. There are comparison numbers with the pre-fix Bajas there as well.

You are correct, the DD SAE Sport fogs and Baja SAE's are completely different patterns. The DD SAE Sport is a far more modern pattern, meeting the requirement of SAE F3 spec fog. Baja's SAE do not meet the modern F3 spec, which requires a shorter pattern with much tighter cut offs. They are not the same fog pattern even though they are both 'SAE'. The Baja SAEs are supposed to meet the ancient SAE F spec fog requirements, and if looking for an F spec fog, the DD SAE Pro fogs meet the F spec and are 3x the output intensity of Baja's SAEs while being similar in pattern height. The DD SAE Pro fogs also have less light spill above the horizon for less glare to oncoming traffic even though they are 3x the output intensity. The Baja's squadron sports have no cut offs and are exceptionally blinding to oncoming drivers and illegal to use on the street as they are not an SAE pattern. Not a good choice for someone looking for fog lights to use on the street, the pattern is for off road use only.

Kicking this thread back into play. Looks like DD is the way to go for fogs (street use). Why do the have a pro and sport version? I assume light out is more or less between the two, but both are still SAE compliant? Why would you go with the weaker one if neither will blind oncoming traffic?

I have the DD Pros, selective yellow with the clear lenses which the supplier was kind enough to swap before shipping so I didn't have to pay for an extra pair.

I try not to drive around with fogs on all the time (I think people who do that are goofy). But if I forget I'm pretty confident from crouching down to the eye height of someone in a Camry in the oncoming lane, that these lights will not dazzle anybody.

I'm so impressed by DD's ability to control light using their TIR tech, that I'm buying a 42" light bar from them for my new Prinsu rack. Hopefully I will not get glare off my cement hood.
