I want to imagine the description is what it was listed as 20 years ago and they just copy and pasted it for that listing.

Thanks. It's nice for us to get positive press. Most people get a bad taste in their mouth when someone mentions "plasma center".

Completely ignorant to why people would have a bad taste in their mouths for plasma centers. Care to fill me in?

It's kind of a chicken and egg scenario. Since plasma centers pay donors, they are generally placed in lower income areas. Since the centers generate more traffic in those areas, it tends to drive up visibility. To the uninformed it looks like we bring poor people to the area and it is really the opposite. A plasma center can pump over $2 million in tax free income into a community annually, not to mention the jobs we bring in.

It doesn't help that, back in the 80's, the industry was kind of like the wild west. There were hardly any regulations and essentially anyone that could fog a mirror was accepted for plasma donation (including homeless people, prostitutes, etc). Then Hepatitis C and HIV hit.

When I started in the mid-90's the regulations had changed but plasma companies are still fighting to change the image from 30-40 years ago.

I lost a very dear friend today. The hits just keep on coming...

She was sick, wasn't eating, and was having difficulty breathing. She's was nearly skeletal when her mom finally took her to the vet today. They recommend putting her to sleep.

I can't tell you guys how much this little girl helped me get over the depression I was in from Mom passing, but I loved her dearly and I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm having a hard time typing this through the tears.

Until we meet again, Princess.

Sorry for your loss . Just put my shepherd down last year after 15 loyal years and still haven’t recovered. Wife brought home a standard poodle puppy. We will see how it goes .

Thanks. Sorry for yours too. My last one (a Corgi-Rottweiler mix) was with me for 16 years. He passed on new years eve 2008. Princess was only in my life for a little over a year, but it hurts just as much. It's odd, there have been two other dogs in this house, I I didn't bond with either one of them, but Princess and I took to each other like ducks to water.

When my other dog passed, I thought I didn't want another one. But this time, I think I do want to get another dog. Weird.
