Their routers, mice, cellphones, and tablets do but their motherboards, laptops, monitors, and video cards are usually among the best out there with a pretty hefty markup because of brand recognition.

Wow who would pay $112 for a flashlight?

There’s always a new smaller more powerful one coming out, if you keep passing you’ll never buy it. It’s a fuel so that’s top of the line. I have ten year old fuel tools that are still holding up. Plus the new one is going to be 3 times the price

It's a weapon light. It comes with a pressure pad and it can take a beating, unlike flashlights of a similar size. People are willing to pay a premium for a good weapon light.

I think I've paid more than that.

To give some context/reasoning. I had a ~$20 flashlight that was very bright and took it with me while I was hunting. I didn't see anything worth shooting, so I ended up just hanging out in a tree until dark. On my walk back, I heard something in the woods. My super-bright-but-cheap flashlight did about enough good to light up the eyes of whatever it was, but wasn't enough to even give me a hint of an outline. Even though I was carrying a rifle, I was anything but "at ease." I'm going to guess that it was 50 or so yards from me.

Purchased a high quality flashlight for around $100 or so (might have even been $150) and it was literally night and day difference. I've been able to see mostly what I'm looking at out past 100 yards. FWIW, It was a Streamlight ProTac HL.

So the moral of the story is that sometimes it is worth paying for quality. Even though a flashlight might have a high lumen output, it might not be very controlled.

Edit: not saying that everyone needs a high dollar flashlight. Just that there can be a legitimate need for one. In 90%+ situations, any flashlight will do.

Also, my experience is that flashlights that use the CR123A batteries will slowly drain those batteries (or maybe they drain themselves?) when left over time. I always pull them out when not in use. The bigger, rechargeable ones that are comparable (can't recall the number on them. Edit #2: Googled it. 18650 I think is what I was thinking of) will hold a charge for what seems like indefinitely.

I received one as part of the Amazon ratings scam that was going on and it was a piece of junk. The instructions were virtually nonexistent and it would only focus 3" in front of the camera. I only used it legitimately to find the adjustment screws on my Fiat's carb. Everything else I tried it with, it was worthless.

Long way to go to get to "I hope that one is better."
